"Free Campers" spending

Hullo all...

I read somewhere (I think in our forums) of a town or shire who collected shopping receipts from campers in a box as they departed the free camp, maybe a showgound, to help assess the value of those visitors to the community.

Can anyone help me find that article please?

We are trying to demonstrate the value of free/budget campers to a recalcitrant shire...

Thanks  Fried Rice

Correct and welcome to the gang hisky, enjoy here and out in the playground.

Many many $$$$$$ were proven to be spent in the town in a short period of time too.

Maybe check one of "yeoeleven's" post's or his blog FR he may have posted it originally. I know I read it too.

I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction FR.

Fried Rice,

The Queensland government has already done your work for you when it did its inquiry into rural development. I have posted links before but just put this into your search on Google,

Gympie in QLD also did a "spending" survey - the amount spent in a month was phenomenal!
Perhaps do a "search" on here for either Home Hill or Gympie.

I  think some Caravan Clubs ask members at a their Caravan Park "meet up's"      to  keep a record of their local spending while at the event.

The total spending for the club get together  is passed on to the local authority.  Think the CMCA  does this ?

Doing that at a free camp  would not be  hard for the local authority to get a ball park figure of spending locally.

On freechoicecamps.com.au you will find all the stories indexed under state and town. They also have a Facebook page which has the Caboolture showground story. Both sites are a very useful source of information.
