Captains Log, day 4 on the mysterious Norfolk Island. First mate C2 decided that it was time to venture further a field AAAARRRRRRGGGGGG that means one thing Shopping, I have a mutiny on my hands plus my hands clamped firmly on my wallet.
Oh well what do you do give in and go with the flow I guess (well I did anyway). Talking of all things to do with the island and the sea last nights dinner Fletchers Fate was very enjoyable and re-enacts the mutiny on the bounty or more so what happened to Fletcher Christian. I think the Island is trying to do the right thing by entertaining us visitors but then they now how to charge but, its all part of the experience and in fact it was cheaper last night than todays adventure LOL. Also noted to day was a funeral of a local chap that passed away and get this, you or your family don't pay for a thing everything for the dearly departed from the coffin to the burial is taken care of by the town administration the only thing required cost wise is you have to provide a headstone not bad heh. Anyway whilst the funeral procession passed through the town all the townsfolk which included store keepers, school children and visitors stood outside of there respected stores to pay respects as the courtage went by. The fellow from the fishing tackle shop also stood to attention with a fishing rod hehe. This act of respect brought me back to when I as a young man, when I worked in our little supermarket and anyone in our town passed away as a mark of respect we did the same thing including turning off the store lights it is good to see these tradition continue. After this we took a drive out to a place that has some enormous Morton Bay fig trees such a spectacular sight. Anyway enough of my ramblings I thing the RSL has a schooner with my name on it so will update you further tomorrow.
Got a few of those Morton Bays here in Taree too, as well as a few funeral directors. I guess Norfolk with a small population doesn't have sufficient people falling off the perch to warrant a full time undertaker, so it's good of the community to take care of things.
Sounds a great day C1, glad to see you are looking after C2 too. Buying all those souvenirs.
Good to hear last night was good entertainment as well.
Those trees sure are big. You look lost.
Funny thing happened this afternoon, just got back from being out and noticed the traffic out front had slowed right down in both directions. Next thing, knock on the door and there standing in uniform was a member of the local constabulary and parked out front a shiny blue Police car. He proceeded to raid the garage after a small discussion, being in uniform I wasn't about to argue with him
Great mate you have there Garry. He said he had spoken with you and the items would be In the corner, now as it happened there was four corners but his training showed as he found the "wanted" items, arrested them and carted them off
Strange thing is, the traffic is back to it's normal pace again.

Yeh sorry about that mate did not mean to put the fright into you LOL he sent me a message and for some strange reason it came through on my phone. But all good see now you have law enforcement contacts locally LOL
Your picture prompted me to revisit my NI snaps ...
Attached is a pic of those great Figs ... Not as good as yours though, and another one overlooking the Cemetery where there was a funeral during our stay too.
Some great headstones to see in the cemetery too.
Had some great local avacadoes (Reed I think). Cheap & plentiful.
We stayed in a cottage made almost entirely from Norfolk Island Pine. Had the unlikely name of 'Ponderosa'. Beautiful spot though.
