Great stuff. I've often looked for them unsuccessfully in the small river that runs thru Deloraine. Be great to see them in the wild..

Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Special stuff!

I have been fortunate to see several at close range over the years.
In 2001 in Tassi I caught one on video for several minutes. Not anything like the quality of the footage above, of course, but I was very pleased none the less.
This pic was taken from the video (so it is even worse quality).
It came to within 1m of my feet. You never forget an experience like that.

They are actually not particularly rare or endangered species, just very elusive.

Cheers,

Peter

Nice shot Peter, more "rare" to see them is what I meant.

I spent hours watching at a spot in the Atherton Tablelands where they were supposed to frequent but never saw a thing, not even a ripple or a bubble furious

To see a platypus in the wild is one of my greatest wishes while we are still able to travel. Does anyone know of places not too far from Sydney? We can free camp if that's the way to go.
That's a great photo Peter.
