I can't see how you'd get more space in the Colorado - my son has a single cab Colorado with the 2.8 engine (later model) and it is narrower than the Territory. Also has a lot less power although possibly it may lug better.
My personal worry with turbocharged diesels is that they are a fairly stressed engine and if anything goes wrong from injectors to a bad lot of fuel the costs will be considerable. Servicing will also be required more often than the Territory and cost more each time. The Colorado will not ride or handle as well as the Territory.....it's a commercial vehicle. Unless you need 4X4 it is just a source of future problems with more complexity plus they chew more fuel than a 2WD
And yes, I am biased.
Holden quoting 9l/100k is a bit of a joke they are talking average with almost nothing in it, and how you drive compared to me there maybe as much 3l/100k because of our driving styles.
Also do a bit of detective work, my ranger is rated at 3t but when you check the manual and the ID plate on the towbar, sure the 3.0 ltr TDI manual is 3T but the same vehicle in auto is only 2.5T.
If its what you want don't let others put you off.
We have a 09 4x4 colorado and tow a 2500 Jayco. Went around the top and averaged 15.5/100 and get around 10/100 when not towing but the back still fill of gear. I have it serviced ( oil, fuel & oil filter every 10k) I live at Mount Tamborine and it climbs the hill in second & third gear. you won't be disappointed with it.
We had a Territory as well, with 2300KGs max towing and not much for the car payload.
We decided on the 2012 PX Ranger XL dual cab diesel (as I have never liked holdens) as it tows 3350KGs and can have a tonne in the tray.
Yes its a commercial vehicle and high off the ground, but very comfortable and easy to drive. We did a trip of 2500KMs a week or so ago and returned 13.8 Lit per 100KM in wind, hills and rough conditions with 2500KGs of caravan on the back and 700KGs of payload in the tray/cab.
When we looked at a ute we test drove the collie and we were not impressed, very uncomfortable.
We do miss our territory, nicest car we have ever had, but cant tow 2500KGs

We have a 2012 TS Territory AWD and it is rated at 2700. We pull a 20'6 van and have done around 18,000K with the van in tow. Currently achieving 13.5 litres per 100K at 90KPH and 8.00 litres per 100K without the van hooked up. It is "VERY" comfortable and we are pretty much close to max weight most of the time. Servicing is capped at $271 for five years. We too had a petrol model but is was just too thirsty. When we change our car later next year, we will be looking very closely at the Colorado Twin Cab, Auto, Duramax Diesel, 3500KG rated tow capacity. Best of luck whatever you choose.
David.
Thanks for all the reply's, hard to part with Terri, but have to get something bigger and to be able to put more gear in the back of Tug
will save me getting on my hands and knees to get it out of the tunnel boot we have.

The RC Colorado is a pretty honest vehicle and for the power it has it tows 2.4Tonne quite well. Mine is identical to your pic apart from colour. I was getting around the 15-151/2L/100 std. A 3" exhaust and free wheel hubs got me into the 14L/100 territory, and with gas over diesel it's now down in the mid 12's with 2.5L/100 of gas, with more pulling power. The Izusu engine is rated at a 9/10 which means under 10% of the engines will experience a major problem in the first 100,000 Km. These engines are expected to do in the region of 800,000Km before a rebuild is required.
