back to the fridge i put 2 behind mine on a temperature switch duno if it helps but hey i recon it does any thing to move the air around a bit mind over mater maybe i don't care i do what i do when want and with what i want and who hehehehehe .
I was putting fans on mine but sparky said the thetford 3 way fridge has a fan in it, would it hurt to have more fans ?
I have a small 4" and larger 6" fan which is faster, is it best to have the bigger one drawing out the hot air or blowing in cool air from the bottom ??

I have been reading up on various forums etc on improving fridge perforance using better insulating and fans etc. and will be doing some to my fridge.
However I have found that a few people are placing small fans inside the fridge. The claimed benefit is that it provides circulation of the cold air which improves performance, better distribution of the cold air and reduces frosting. I found on the net in the USA 2 small battery operated fan units especially designed for this application. Also some are fitting small 12v fans in their fridge for same result. I will be giving this a go. Will see if I can get 12v power into the fridge or maybe look at getting the power from the internal light switch, if not import one of these battery fans.

To get power into the fridge try feeding the cable up the fridge drain pipe.
I recall seeing an article somewhere that specified the best fan for inside the fridge & another to suck out the air from the back of the fridge. Probably one of Collyn Rivers books.
ps. IMHO fitting insulation to prevent pockets of hot air forming around the fridge plus baffles to guide the air close to & over the top condensor together with a fan to suck the air out of the top vent is the go. Just cable tie one or two to the top vent.
Of course all this is less necessary if the fridge is correctly installed. In particular the outlet vent aught be above the top of the fridge.

I have read thats one way to get power into the fridge I will be looking at. I wasnt convinced at first that a fan in the fridge would work but the more I thought about it the more I am convinced it will. I will still be stuffing polyester bats in around the fridge and some stick on insulatin wont hurt either way and. Fan in the top vent. My fridge has the condensor at the bottom it has a fan on the radiator core already , wont put a fan in the lower vent because it will be covered when on dirt tracks anyway. I have all the bits ready to do the job when I next get the van out of storage next.
In saying all this I havent yet had a problem with the fridge but hear so many do so thought it best to fix before I also do. I am surprised that most vans makers dont have this sorted out already and only a very few even know how the top vent should be located.
