RACV Total care

This topic has been done before but there have been changes to the package regarding size and weight

4 tonne GVM and 22' length are their limits

I have sent an email to RACV about this and this is there reply, so some change is envisaged

Hello Gordon
Further on from this topic, there has been changes to the latest total care package which still has many limitations on what is covered by total care and for the majority of caravan owners total care does not cover them for their caravan.
Most of the caravans being built these days are well over the 21  from rear wheel on bumper to tip of draw bar and also go over the weight limit for the combined weight.
Surely it is time that RACV Total care come into line with what people are actually towing and want covered, without an increase in the premiums
The RACV was originally set up for motorists but now it is big business with not a lot of the profits going back to the drivers for whom the RACV was set up for.
There are a lot of people who think they are covered and do not read the fine print ( you need to be a lawyer ) so could this be looked at so we are in fact covered

Dear Mr Thomas,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Unfortunately, there are significant additional costs associated with the towing of larger vehicles (>22 feet/6.7m) as our contracts with service providers are struck at prices relating to the older style, smaller vans. Even towing a smaller van from FNQ can cost RACV in excess of $3,000.

Having said that, we are soon to launch a 'tow pack' which will be sold as a supplement to Extra Care or Total Care. Tow Pack will provide coverage for larger, heavier vehicles (including motor homes) up to 8 tonnes. Unfortunately, we cannot do this without additional expense to our members.

Tow Pack will be launched in December this year.

Kind regards
