Fires on Bribie Island

Summer has come early for us with three days of fires and waterbombing choppers, today the worst day, and everything just reaks of smoke! It almost looks like it is down the end of the street but it is about another block or so away from us. The car and van are covered in ash and because (silly me) left out some washing this morning and a left a couple of windows open (let's face it, it's dam hot around here) we now have a house that smells like the bbq got it all wrong!

At least by it being burnt now, it will be (hopefully) free for the summer, but there is still a lot of bush areas on the island that are tinder dry - me thinks we are in for a long hot summer.

All quiet on the home front today, no smoke, no choppers, just a nice hot steamy day. But I heard this morning that the retirement village not far from us was on evacuation alert last night, but thankfully came to nothing. So for the time being all is good.

That's good news Pejay, one of my fond memories is a stay at the CP on the eastern side of the island. smile

Lets hope you don't have any more this year at least....hmm

Happy to hear Bribie is clear of fires now. The playground of my younger days. Really enjoyed being on Bribie earlier this year and meeting up with you guys.. Take care there...
