Advice needed for trip route and must sees from Central Coast to Darwin

We are looking to do a trip from the NSW Central Coast to Darwin via Cobar, Broken Hill & Port Augusta then on to Darwin, Rockhampton in 2015. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the Arid Gardens immediately north of Port Augusta.

Make sure you see their sun dial

Plenty of WWII sites marked all through the NT if you are interested.

If a road train approaches you from behind DO NOT slow down until he pulls out beside you. If he has to back off 5kph he may take more than a Km to get back to overtaking speed.

Allow plenty of time, there's heaps to see, especially if you are not tied to the bitumen.

Coober Pedy is interesting, fir more than opals, the houses underground, hotels underground. Go see woomera, if it is open then. Stop at Lake Hart and marvel at history, heaps of free camping available. Get Camps Australia Wide publication, issue 8 is out in February 2015.
Most of all, take it easy, allow plenty of time - lots to see and do.
