You wonder how items like this get an approval number in the first place. Self regulation?
I remember when as a kid my old man told me about a mate of his whose job was to screw up a certain number of toilet paper sheets and place them in a brand new toilet pan, flush, ensure they all flushed away and finally stamp the side of the pan with the Metropolitan Water and Sewerage Board approval insignia. Every pan that went on the market had to be approved in this way. All taps were similarly stamped with MWSB though I'm not sure how they were checked.

Hi Hako
I o Often did electrical work' Instrumentation'@ the old Dinmore pottery near Ipswich
& did see that occurring
Now regarding the number of recalls
First off, we simply accept overseas approval @ face value ,rubber stamp it then issue an Aus approval based on that
Now the original test & approval" may?" be OK, but some shonk makers then make " little?" changes that makes the original test worthless
However the problem is only going to worse
The Fed Gov 'in the name of removing red tape,'right now, are changing the regs to make it even easier for such crap to come in

Years ago it was difficult to find a cheap product that would do a job & get one out of trouble. Nowadays it's near impossible to find a quality product that will last. Every thing is cheap.
