There is no doubt they could do a lot of damage and take out a lot of people, but once the Coalition jets scramble, they will be wiped out. Also the Americans have satellite facilities that will tell them if any aircraft take off in Syria or northern Iraq. That will send the Coalition into action.

IS are probably using Mercenaries to fly these old beasts. Which reminds me of a story. After mid 1980s I left a flying job to buy a Pub in a Tourist area of the Philippines. About 1988/89 I was having a drink in the bar with a few friends and I was introduced to a white South African, who joined our little drinking group. He didnt say much about what he did for a living except to say he worked a month on overseas, then a month off which he spent in the Philippines.
About a month later he came into the Bar again, in fact he stayed at my Hotel. He knew I was a flyer and asked me if Id be interested in part time work. I said no, but what is the job. He told me he worked on Contract for an African Country, run by a Despot, and he flew jet fighters. I told him I knew nothing about jet fighters but he said hed teach me, and Id be paid US$5,000.00 a month inc. the month off. I didnt want to tell him I had earned twice that much, just said no, but I thought Id string him along.
Apparently these guys were mercenary pilots. Theyd fly these old jets and drop a few bombs on some villages, then return to base. First thing that came to mind was an engine failure and having to bail out over a village Id just bombed !!!
The next month he bought along a video tape, and there he was, in Tee Shirt and shorts and thongs, jumping into an old jet and off he went into the wild blue yonder, with 2 big bombs strapped underneath.
Just goes to show what some people will do for money.

No matter what you bomb them with, eventually someone will have to go in there and root them out. Air strikes might help, but foot soldiers win wars,and theirs WANT TO DIE, taking as many of us "infidels" as possible.I think the Turkish govt should be doing something.Bill
I agree Bill. Don't know who is gonna supply boots on the ground !! Not us or the yanks !! I think Turkey is worried about the political ramifications, but let's see what they do when ISIL moves across into Turkey...
