I think thats fairly normal for some types of control panels Phil..

so long as your multimeter tells you the batteries are well up there is no problem..

Cheers Bob, I had a funny feeling that was the case. Getting terminal volts around 13.8 to 14V on the meter during the cycle. The drifter shows only half the battery charged but Im not too concerned.

sometimes you can have too much information..

some controllers show you a Good Battery Status on an LCD panel, others are just LED lights

the panel in my caravan shows battery voltage all of the time..

I have to push a separate button to show amps in..

my Blue Sky MPPT solar controller that im testing only has LED lights.. and that's it.. you have to buy another display to plug into it to see the finer detail

You can not measure battery voltage during charging.
What you will see is the voltage of the charger (solar controller).

Ah Ha, thank you, that answers a number of my questions.. The solar controler is seperate to the drifter but it makes sense that Im reading the solar panel voltage to the batts.
