I drove past Kankool twice a day for 20 years so the sign is "imprinted" on my memory mainly because when open the speed limit drops from 100 to 70 and sometimes they knock off and close the place and leave the bloody 70 kmh signs on. really pi55e5 people off I can tell you.
coppers used to have a speed blitz there now and then and did good business(none from me)
got a few spits of rain today but would love a lot more.
stay safe

Their was a safety blitz on caravans near Childers yesterday as per another forum,
it was reported that 4 vans were still on the side of the highway at 10 pm last night for being over loaded. Any one know more details.
and that's another reason why you should be putting on lightweight Flexible Solar panels... over a couple of panels it could save you 20 kilograms or more...

Spot on Blue, that is exactly why I went to the effort of fitting semi flexible s, saved about 140kg, then getting rid of the roof top air con we reduced the weight of the roof by another 45kg.

interesting..
we've had this new van for over a year now and not once have we turned it on... lol
not saying that we wont... we mainly free camp so don't use electricity as such.. heating is a Diesel heater which runs off the solar Batteries
I didn't say I didn,t have an air conditioner, I just got rid of the weight off the roof. I run a split system with the compressor on the back bumper, it is about 13kg lighter than the roof top unit, and the weight is significantly lower. It also works a lot better being quieter, and more efficient.
Before anyone jumps on me about adding weight to the back bumper, we moved the spare forward to compensate.
So many people add on so much extra equipment after the van has been built they exceed the payload before stepping inside. Water tanks.solar.batteries. tool boxes etc etc. Then add their water a gas a the payload is exceded.
Our new unit will have any extras fitted during the build process. All their vans are then weighed on completion. Then the payload is added. A 700kg so there should be no problems with overloading.
