Hello gang. Just came back from a terrific trip to Winton and places between. Must say the thing that bugs me most when travelling is the standard of showering facilities at caravan parks. Not going to bag any, but I HATE stepping from under the shower into foot deep water where I am supposed to get dressed. And also HATE it when there is not enough places to hang or store what I need to take to the shower. Anyway, I commend the facilities at Gem Seekers Caravan Park at Rubyvale; the absolute best are at Barcaldine Tourist Park; and Chinchilla Tourist Park (relatively new) are tops, too. Others are ok, some others are hopeless, but this trio are GOOD.
My only other grouch is that we have a 17-foot pop-top and at lots and lots of caravan parks the grey water has to be hosed uphill from the van to where it is supposed to go down the gurgler into the waste water disposal "facility". Do other folk have this problem? Cheers.

I have two plastic hangers that hook on the top of doors to hang things on and that works well. Not sure about the water problem though. I also only wear shorts, top and crocks when going to shower and always have thongs on in the shower. Works for me anyway.
Ditto with Dougwe's comment we also take a foam mat you know the ones that lock together and are grey in colour we stand on that as we dry ourselves.
Kev - agree totally.....all they need is one of those wooden things on the ground to keep your feet out of the water. Also dislike loose, sloppy tap handles and unmarked hot/cold taps which do not follow industry standards.
A simple plastic shower curtain is all that is needed usually but that would cost maybe $5 and only last a month------profit gone.

The complaint got its name from the fungus on the shower floors of gymnasiums, pool change areas and so on. What does that say to you?
You can get it too from sharing a towel, shoes etc with a sufferer, and jock itch (same fungus) from scratching after touching infected feet for instance.
Doesn't go away by itself, get the treatments, folks.
I'll go with the thongs, I forgot them once and stepped onto a great glob of snot on the shower floor I hadn't seen, squished between my toes....
We have also taken a smaller square (clip together) foam mat to stand on to get dressed, take it back to your van and hang it outside (preferably in the sun) to dry off.
Those wooden duckboards aren't much good in showers as they harbour contagious bugs in public showers.
Thanks gang. We also always wear thongs in the shower. Keep a pair just for that purpose. But difficult to dry feet and put the duds on is standing in water where it ought to be dry. Seems I am not the only one experiencing the problem.
Interesting too that in some parks you are encouraged to allow the grey water to run on the grass/dirt/trees. I have no problem with that but where a drainage system is installed I do try to do the right thing and direct the water to there.
I guess with only those two problems to whinge about, there really isn't much to complain of.
