So what is the difference of a person with his vehicle parked all night while he fishes and someone who is sleeping.
Could not the nomad have been fisj=hing and then had a sleep like many of the fisher persons would have done during the night.
I think often people split hairs as if they scream load enough then the fisher persons wont be able to get to the wharf as well at night and then they will scream because it is closed.
I think that a NO CAMPING sign should cover all. If you stop for an extended time say 4 hours or more then you have to move whether you are sleeping, fishing, singing songs or shopping.
Your vehicle is still stationary in the same spot, what you are doing is really irrelevant.
Had a similar scenario in QLD where we stop and fished with other fishers near a river and in the morning the ranger came along and told us to move and don't come back into his area as he had our number. When we told him we were fishing most of the night and it was backed by the other people he stated we had a motor home so therefore not welcome unless we stopped in the caravan park down the road. He was not popular when we called at the roadhouse to cancel our dinner appointment because we had to be out of the area by 10:00 by rangers orders.
I just keep away from any area where there is perceived problems. I don't camp in towns except if I ask permission at a supermarket or other area and that's only if I need something from the shop or area in the morning and then I move on.
Regards
Brian

Interesting read that, It seems to me that Caravan parks are trying to pull all the strings. We had a great time at Harrington in May/June stayed at the big 4 and walked out on the breakwall and caught heaps of good bream.
There is a small parking area at the start of the break wall and I did notice an occasional van or Motorhome would pull into there and I assume they were fishing. Good on them I say. The tactics you describe will only drive more people out of towns with this attitude.

happened to me way back in the 70's. Was fishing with Bro-in-law and a couple of his mates on Tweed wall and after about 4 hours of not even a bite i went back to the car for a sleep because they wanted to keep fishing. This was maybe 3 in the morning when i went for a sleep. At 6am there was a knock on the car window and a ranger standing there. I wound down the window and he said i couldn't sleep in the car.... I asked him what else I was supposed to do in the circumstances, and he said he didn't care but no sleeping in the car... I ended up walking back onto the rock wall with a blanket and slept sitting against a big rock.. not very comfortable either.. lol
