I find it fascinating that many posters are commenting on the so-called invasions of privacy.

It would be interesting to poll those same people with regard to their views on women wearing burkhas.

Hako, you must have led a very sheltered life if you have not had dealings with our Sheriffs. LOL.

My understanding is that they are an officer of the Courts, and have the un-enviable job of chasing have people that have defaulted on fines. Also, they chase you if you are summoned for Jury Duty, and refuse to appear.

The longer you live without dealing with a Sheriff, the better off you are IMHO.

My understanding is that in S.A. Every police car has car plate recognition cameras. My concern is the imformation gathered by the police is retained for two years along with GPS location details. See Wikipedia.

if your mobile is turned on your travels are being logged and the information retained. See Google phone maps ( need a goggle account)

The australian federal police already use face recognising cameras. Wiki again. Recently is was used to scan crowds when a Chinese dignnatory visited,people were approached.

The horse has already bolted.

A good example of restriction of religious beliefs in a society that supposes it is free and open to individuals who can express independent views without government intervention.

G'day John All good..am not responsible for the debt of the previous owner...the sheriffs dept just tag the number plate. Yet to see if I get any special attention by police. Don't have a problem with it other than annoyance factor. If these are the steps needed in this changing world to keep me and mine safe....I'm all for it. Cheers george& fat dog
