This is the supplier that the monitor can be purchased from.

Not aware of the seperate battery system in a van, a boat trailer system has its own battery as there is no other use for a battery on a boat trailer.

If this is so then there needs to be a charging system for that battery (even though it never gets used under normal situations)whish has to be isolated from house batteries. Will check it out.

Vans have a separated battery to the 'house' battery. It looks like a small motorcycle battery. On a properly wired van, this battery is charged on the same circuit as the 'house' battery. On some vans this is charged only when coupled to the tug. Very easy for the battery to go flat. Why the break-away system does not take its power from the same battery, I'm not sure.

Yep from what I hear it is five years before first inspection. Don't forget the breakaway system has a separate battery to the van batteries.

Checked up on two vans today & their breakaway system is powered from the house batteries.
