We just bought a new gas oven for our kitchen at home here in sunny north queensland.Whilst at the the gas appliance shop I enquired about gas bottle refills as they do it there $29 for 9kg bottle,And bunnings $22?bottle The difference comes down to the quality of the gas bunnings have what is called AA gas whilst most if not all suppliers have AAA rated gas The fellow I was talking to said the cheaoer gas could over time clog up regulators with the stuff they put in with the gas any info from you informed people out there...

Could it be that the guy who mentioned the alleged types of gas was having you on. It sounds much like the gas bottle myth that has been circulating. Perhaps we could hear from someone in the LP gas industry who can set the record straight.
Google it and you'll find that there are 2 different types of LPG. LPG for BBQ's and appliances etc, and LPG Autogas. The difference is that LPG Autogas is a blend of propane and butane, whereas LPG for appliance use is propane. No mention of different grades of LPG for appliances that i could find.
When in Launceston I was exchanging 9kg bottled gas from Woolworths Petrol Station for $37.00. Recently at Bunnings I see it for just under $23.00 !!....Unbelievable the price difference..

What utter tripe
The bloke at the appliance center got you in hook line and sinker..
There is no need for me to say anymore as others have said it all.
All I will say is you have now heard it from someone that spent 30yrs in the LP Gas industry..
Did I ever tellya about the time I caught a 20kg Snapper in the Barcoo..
Does anyone know where to get rid of a couple of LPG bottles. I have a Swap and Go 4.5kg and a 2kg (mine) I need to dispose of. The local tip wasn't very interested.

LPG by product in the production of petroleum. All of the Oil major's overheads, wages, truck leases, operating costs.. EVERYTHING, comes out of LPG profits. The rest is pure unadulterated cop.

You forgot the Governments cut in the form of Tax..
When I first entered the LPG industry there was an $80 per tonne rebate to use it and we were burning off at the well head more than we could use..
I remember buying gas for $150 per tonne and getting $80 back .. not any more.
I point blank refuse to get these swap bottles. My hardware store refills my bottles and I stand and watch telling the operator to wait till a solid stream of white liquid comes out, indicating the bottle IS full. Hes use to me now.
BTW it costs $27 for 9KG bottles. You never know how much gas is in the swap bottles.
Safe travels
