I have a problem having the Winnebago Explorer limited edition plaque replaced after it was lost by the repairer. I was wondering if some can send me a photo of the plaque so that I can get another made. Insurance will pay if I can get a replica made. Winnebago have no information about the plaque.
This a the final step in a long saga. Had the auto transmission serviced by a motor home service "specialist" and a piece was left out of the transmission which prevented oil getting to centre spigot. End result a $10,000 transmission repair. Whilst the transmission was out of motor home the mechanic rolled off the access pit. With no power steering or assisted brakes he ended up 100mm too close to a truck. $180,000 later we are all fixed except the plaque.
If someone can help me with a photo of the plaque it would be much appreciated.
What plaque are you wanting the one on the grill ? Out of interest what chassis is it running on ?
I would get any auto serviced at auto specialist ., you wouldn't get your plumber to fix the fridge..
Alison auto go to Alison specialist etc..
I have 05 model ..
The plaque is the bottom one of the 3 just to the rear of entry door.
The guy that stuffed the transmission claims he is an auto transmission specialist and he advertises such in Motor home magazines. When i went to VCAT to recover money my claim was rejected because I had no evidence that he serviced transmission. Was listed in the log book to be serviced, log book items were ticked and he charged for transmission fluid. The VCAT member stated as the items had not been signed and the invoice just listed standard service. A standard service is just an engine oil change. Not bad for almost $900.
The trans before Alison is virtually the stronger 4 speed from higher output GM vehicles with lower rpm torque converter to match the diesel power better..
Don't you hate being ripped off like that ? Fare dinkum you could have crawled under than changed your own oil on both for $200 .. A lot off $$ just to check things ..
I cant help you with the plaque but on the $10G repair .....I would be putting in a complain with consumer affairs as mechanics need to be guarranteeing their workmanship.
I got a fellow to do up the motor recently but only 2500 ks down the road did a push rod and it was caused by faulty workmanship.
I have a claim in against the original repairer.
I am sick of getting work done and finding out shortly thereafter that it was faulty.
Went to VCAT and lost because I had no evidence the mechanic touched the transmission. This is despite the log book showing transmission service and was ticked. This particular "mechanic" advertises as doing "standard service". That means it is not a log book service but rather his own "standard" which turns out to be an engine oil change, no filter, nothing else. He did wash the outside but then would expect something for nearly $900. I had a formal statement from the repairer of transmission, a GM specialist saying that the tube required for main lubrication was missing, the oil return line had recently been removed (that is when this tube is located) and there is no way the transmission would do any more than 500 kilometres without this tube before blowing. All means nothing when you are dealing with the law especially if the other party is well experienced in conning people.
Be wary of specialist motor home service centres advertising prices for "standard service". You must have log book being service advertised and all items in the log book signed, not just ticked and a business stamp on the page for the mechanic to be held accountable in the eye of the law.
Hope you have more success than me. It will depend on what is written on the invoice. Although the engine oil type was written on the invoice which turns out was incorrect for my motor. was able to save a $25,000 (seal replacement quote to strip and replace all seals in a Chev diesel) engine seal replacement. The ruling was as it was on the invoice and if it was wrong I should not have taken delivery of vehicle until the correct oil was used. That only cost about $500 in flushing oils and mechanics time under consultation with the Penrite oil guru in Syndney.
