Agnes Waters and Seventeen Seventy

Left Boyne River early and drove to Agnes Waters via Miriam Vale around 100kms.

It seems to me that there are totally different aspects to those two places, if you want to surf and lounge on the beach then you book into Agnes Waters but if calm waters and boating is your thing then you head for Seventeen Seventy.

The caravan parks will not miss you, probably more for the holiday maker than the nomadic traveller. BUT if you want to go there on the cheap then Workman's Beach is for you it is a bush camping experience complete with a ranger to collect your fees if you haven't booked and have no permit. $6 per person per night is very reasonable.

Workman's is shown in the Camps book and phoning to book is recommended, this camp ground is just a km south of the A W main beach. Flushing toilets and drinking water is available and numbered camp sites. There were many camping when I drove round the camp, I didn't check out if there were any vacancies but it is a long way to rock up and find no vacancies.  John

good camping also in the national parks either side of angus waters. Last time I was up there (went every year for about 8 years on an annual fishing trip), back to the story, there was a bus about 40 foot parked in one of the national parks in the middl of nowhere and the lady of the house was advertising her services. We had a chat only to her for a while and she told us she was working her way around the country.
so be careful John
cheers

You have done it again John, found another nice spot. I feel "peace" just looking at those pics. As you know I love being near water.

Keep safe John.

Yes,its one of my favourite places , too as the fishing is good, and better, if you have 4wd. Middle creek, nth about 25klms, is brilliant fishing and crabbing. Bill

I reckon that is so the twins can get their gear off and go swimming.

We are not big on buying organized tours and the like, preferring to see places independently.
However, one day tour that I would definitely do again if in the area, was the trip on the pink LARC vehicle from 1770 to the Bustard Head lighthouse. Well worth the money.

Thanks for the replies, it is a good area to spend time in. I have bookmarked it for later but this time was an exploration similar to the trips further north when I explored other beach areas.

Doug as you may have gathered I too like water viewssmile

John

Agnes Waters and Seventeen Seventy are nice places to visit, but take lots of sand-fly repellent with you, they will carry you off if you don't.  Great blog pickies are fantastic too, please keep sending this information yeoeleven, love following your travels  June C.

Hello John, Really sorry to have missed you. We left on 12/9/14 after 6 days at 1770. It was beautiful, every sunset was better than the one before. We travelled home via Toowoomba and St George then stayed in a lovely little park at Gulargbone. Last night tonight at Molong and home tomorrow. We won't be travelling again until after Christmas....sad....

Sorry too but I stayed at Boyne River a bit longer than expected, had good company.

Another time perhaps, sad no more travelling for a while and you are so well set up for it.

John
