 Actually as in my younger years I was into Australian History and the gold rush era, I did a fair bit of reading and my thoughts on the Flag is Not regarding the unions, but the FIGHT against the Government and rights of the People to have a Say...

the Miners were fighting for their Right's not to be oppressed under a law that was Not Fair...  Most miners Paid More money for their Licenses that what they found in Gold...

Agree entirely Juergens, great story including the book Eureka Stockade by Raffaello Carboni and his involvement in the matter.

To me it stands for: The right to be treated fairly. The right not to be unjustly dictated to by the government, and Solidarity.
