Travelling with TV on swivel arm

Ive got a new TEAC 24" tv mounted on to a factory fitted swivel arm.

The dealer rep at hand-over said to take the TV off when travelling in case the arm broke or the TV dropped off.

The TV cant drop off due to the "V" mounting of it on to the bracket, but wonder if the arm could break

Sorry - don't know weight of TV as someone (her!!) has disposed of its box with the weight etc on it - but its a 12/240 unit and pretty light weight

What do you guys think about leaving the TV on the bracket when travelling (would take it off on rough roads, tracks etc)?  Ive got enough other fragile stuff like laptops etc to store on the bed and seats so soft storage is at a premium

I sold TV brackets for a long time and my concern would not be that it might break. I would check whether the attachment to the wall satisfies you and I would put a bungy cord around it when traveling. If it is kept close against the wall, there is less chance of something going wrong. Good luck.

I have a TV on a swivel arm. On the wall above and below the TV I have screwed in 2 1" cup hooks. I then have a stretch cable with a hook at each end. I then secure the TV with the stretched cable  over the TV with the hooks into the cup hooks. I'll take a photo of it tomorrow and post it here just in case you can't follow what I'm trying to explain. confuseconfuse

Well i will put is this way.

The time thats it takes to take the power, antenna aerial and the hdmi cords out, and put the tv on the bed (that's what we do). To waiting for another tv, or if you can wait  for one if it falls off the arm.

Second photo is a bit out of focus but I'm not going to do it again ! I think you get the general idea of how I secure my TV.

As we travel the road less traveled we always remove the TV better to be safe than sorry

WE have done very much the same as Big Gorilla.
In fact, the bracket could be the same.
We put a 15cm wide strip of foam rubber between the back of the TV and the wall & another strip on the front between the screen and the flat bungee strap.
Works a treat for us.

Have to say, we too take our TV off the arm and pack it away. It's part of my 'inside' jobs, whilst Pete attends to all things outside incl. the sallelite dish when required.

I've seen plenty of new caravans on shows with rubbing marks  on

the walls from the TV's

only from not securing them while traveling

would be a better idea to lock them into place one way or the other

Cheers John

Takes 30 seconds to put it on the bed whilst travelling and 30 seconds to put it back. Better safe then sorry.

Our 24" kogan sits on the arm all the time. Asked teh dealer when we took delivery, and he said it was not a problem the arm was properly mounted, and would not move. To date, no problems, and no sign of anything moving.

We have a bag made for the TV to be zipped into.  don't leave it on the arm.   too much movement.  we travel a lot of dirt/corrugations.  Sat dish is on the bed, tv/tv bag, lap top etc, (and the top cutlery drawer) travel under the bed.  Better safe than sorry.   How much time does it take!???
