Well all here goes. After long chats with my daughter and son about my future plans etc. We have decided that my daughter and son in law buy a new home (which they were doing anyway) with room for me, 2 dogs, and the MH. Well eventually found the house and they purchased this week. They will move in first and build the Granny Flat in the back yard 2bd, lounge eating area, small kitchen as I will cook in the house, small wet bathroom, and then I will move in. I will retire probably early next year and will be able to venture off on some longer travelling adventures.
I now have to downsize drastically and put my unit on the market shortly with a longer settlement date, to allow all of the above to happen.
So if I am MIA now and then, guess what??? I am damn busy de cluttering.
Will definetly catch up at the Seniors Summer Holiday Camp at Greens .......hopefully all will be done by then.
Travel safe everyone................

LOL started a week ago after my daughter offerred so kindly to come and help...scared the S*** out of me so I have been frightened into action. I know why my mother got angry when I used to say to her, "Let's have a clean up"

Good news Barina. Good luck with the clean-up/decluttering. You are sure to come across some gems you'd forgotten you'd owned & then other things that will make you think, Now why did I keep this?

I know, the emotional stuff is the hardest and my daughter is a clinical minimalist ARRRRRRRRRGH

I found an Ebook about Tiny homes and it had a good section on the best way to De-clutter..
It was a very interesting read....
Juergen..
Thanks Juergen, the threat of my daughter getting to my "stuff" has spurred me into action I can assure you. Her idea of de clttering is a skip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I reckon that's going to be my idea too Judy. I haven't even started and I'm over it.
Good luck with it all.
It is a big job Dougwe, I knew this day would come, be it for a slightly different plan. I have some of my mum's treasures and they are even less important to my daughter than my stuff...ARRRRRRRRRRRGH the dilema. I won't be able to hide anything I want to keep from her. Such stress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I just want to go to sleep and wake up when it is all done .......no going to happen, the local church is having a Paddys market October, so they will get the bulk of the really not needed stuff and things that would be duplicates once we are all in the one place. Has to be done good luck with your packing up.....

Judy, I have decided there is no room to be sentimental through this. What I don't want in the Tug and the new Den when it arrives will go. That means nothing in storage. I am taking photo's of things on the wall and of various other items. What my two daughters don't want, goes to charity or the tip.

Good on you that is the right approach to it all. I have done the photos also and I may get to the point where that will satisfy my emotional attachment disorder....
I have taken lots of pics of my plants, some of which were my mum's and recently lost brothers and I know they are all going to good homes.....oh dear it goes on.

Congratulations and good luck Judy - happy de-cluttering - it would be hard to make the decisions about the sentimental stuff - I can understand where you are coming from.
If it makes any difference .. Your NOT alone ! We are renting our main home out though..
Being SFR & under 65 we need every possible income..
We have done some major cleaning and sorting around the place the past few months..
Good on you Judy, great to hear the news of your changes.
As to cleaning out the house, just keep at it, I had to do mine and got real tough on myself, then when I did it again up in Biggenden I ended up with 5 of those large plastic containers on wheels with the lids and my sewing machine, which I will never use now.
Do you know Judy, I don't miss a thing I have thrown out, passed on to others or taken to the Op Shops. I'm liberated.
Thanks all, I enjoy all the positive helpful comments. I know you are all right in what you say and I do think I am getting there
I have started selling off stuff on Facebook buy swap and sell sites and hopefully that will get rid of the better things. In 2 weeks a church I go to has a Paddy's Market and guess what they will get a couple of car loads of things, which are greatly appreciated, so I am happy about donating to them.
A serious work in progress.

There is a lot of stuff that you imagine really should be worth something (remember what it cost?), but when it comes down to getting rid of it, there aren't so many people about who actually want to pay money for it, or even transport it themselves and if stored, the value would be eroded by storage costs alone in no time at all.
I have done a number of major moves at different stages of life and I detest the task of deciding what goes to that big pile out front. Speaking as someone who is not good at it, the best way for me was always to go room by room, while imagining the exact space that would have to store it if the item/stuff was kept. I have always regretted some of the items discarded on each move, but that is life.
