Get ready now for dangerous weather from Kalbarri to Eucla
Sunday 7 September 2014 - 6:10 PM
If you live south west of a line from Kalbarri to Mount Magnet to Kalgoorlie to Forrest you need to get ready now for dangerous weather coming tonight and into tomorrow morning.
This includes people in Kalbarri, Northampton, Geraldton, Jurien Bay, Dalwallinu, Southern Cross, Kalgoorlie, the Perth Metropolitan area, Mandurah, York, Narrogin, Katanning, Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River, Bridgetown, Albany, Esperance, Eucla and surrounding areas.
This type of weather only occurs once or twice a year and is likely to cause major damage to homes and make travel dangerous.
WEATHER DETAILS: 
As at 5.13 pm on Sunday 7 September 2014 the Bureau of Meteorology advises the passage of a strong cold front from Sunday evening is expected to cause widespread damaging winds to 100 kilometres per hour that could result in damage to homes and property. Damaging winds are likely to develop over the Southwest Capes from about 8pm Sunday night and extend to the Perth Metropolitan area around 10pm. The risk will then extend eastwards to reach Kalgoorlie and Esperance by about 5am Monday morning and Forrest and Eucla after 8am Monday morning. 
In isolated areas southwest of a line from Jurien Bay to Merredin to Bremer Bay, dangerous gusts in excess of 125 kilometres per hour could cause significant localised damage or destruction to homes and property with the passage of the front.
Thunderstorms and small hail are also forecast along the southern coastline and extending north to Perth.
Tides will be higher than normal in coastal parts from Kalbarri to Eucla and may result in flooding of low-lying coastal areas. Dangerous surf conditions are likely which could cause beach erosion.
The passage of this cold front will be followed by another strong cold front on Monday afternoon. This is also likely to produce severe weather over southwest parts of the state and a separate Severe Weather Warning will be issued for this event on Monday morning.
These two strong cold fronts are expected to be windier than typical fronts and are likely to produce the kind of weather that is only seen once or twice a year over southern WA.

Well we are home safe and sound, just did a drop and run. Bit wet between Wanneroo and the airport but no rain all the way home. The wind is picking up a bit now.

We had some heavy rain and quite a bit of wind over night but no damage that I can see as yet.Will wander around and see how the campers faired once I have had some coffee.

Same in Mindarie. There were a few branches lying on the road on the way to work this morning.

Kathy tells me Ocean Reef was hit badly and some houses suffered damage and the wind was strong enough to shift some containers at Fremantle. I'm glad I'm not at sea.

"TOTAL DISASTER"  here on South Side this morning,

I've just been around the property, couldn't see much damage at first, until I looked up.

Wow! What a night - took note of Kiwjim's advice, and put the awning up, things away, and generally closed up for the onslaught - and it came - rocking and rolling, Oldboar who is just behind us was up dropping awning ropes and putting awning up in the early hours, but all is ok I think - msg, next door hasn't surfaced yet, so apart from some wind rocking her van around, she is most likely ok. DougF, down the yard a bit obviously did a rush out and got his awning up, but his satellite dish took a nose dive into the ground.

Apart from that, we are all ok, can't see any trees or branches down from here - so all good. Pity some of the people who live in houses I have just seen on the news - roofs off, trees down and no power! And maybe more to come today - a good day for inside I think.

Inner north suburb of Perth was ok, noisy and high winds but where we were can't see any damage, our local park usually loose a few branches but haven't seen it yet.   Other suburbs did not fare as well. hmm 

Edit:  Just had a look across the road, there is a large gum tree there at least 60ft high right next to some units, I saw a "little branch" hanging down towards the ground before I noticed the rest of it snagged inside the main tree and resting on the branches there, at least about 15 foot more. Luckily the branch had fallen away from the units (double story) and not onto the roof it overhangs....hmm

Oh Heck = maybe I should have gone to the CP in Eucla. Have come 25km further west to a camp. Was hoping the wind would die down so I could carry on this afternoon. Am tucked in some scrub~``` Will let you know if I survive!

Came screaming in at Kalbarri around 1-00am, slide out and awning already put away earlier thank goodness ! lots a rain but otherwise unscathed, apart from a lot of rocking and rolling.
Pleasant sunny patches this morning but the ocean is still very angry looking !

Hey, if you gunna send it East please wait until I have flown over to Adelaide and back tomorrow. I'm not good in a plane at the best of times let alone if it's a rock'n and a roll'n. Not too keen on them hitting too many pot holes either.
