I went to get a gas bottle refilled at BCF. In Emerald the other day, the lady in there told me your bottle must have a plug in it in the outlet that is,Queensland law ,it is the only state I have herd of it, reason for the plug was to stop contaminants getting into there equipment ,what a lot of frog sh@t.
I had one filled in QLD a few weeks ago. The chap asked if it was going straight back on the van, which it was, so he didn't bother giving me a plug. Otherwise he would have. Never had that anywhere else before.

The reasom for the plug is to stop contaminets from getting into your valve such as hornet & spider nest and for the cost off a couple of dollars i think they are a good idea as people often store bottles not connected.
It is the law in Queensland that all LPG refill must have a bung fitted when leaving the filling or pick up point , This was brought in to stop leaking cylinder becoming a bomb when transported in a Vehicle , This law was brought in after several explosion in private cars while transporting LPG cylinders
Bottom line is they are quite within their right to refuse to fill it if you don't have a plug in it
and Ive seen them on the counter at my local hardware store for $2 so cant see what the fuss is

I must do a soapy water gas leak test on the cylinder with a plastic Bung Fitted. Open the main valve and test it for leaks. I only ever thought of them as Dust Plugs.
They don't from memory seem to have a soft enough seating for a compression gas fitting. I will give it a go today if I have a plug still in the spare cylinder.

Just been out now it is Light and checked the Gas bottles. No plastic plugs. I will have to test another day.
Wonder if they will start supplying brass plugs with the standard nitrile (rubber) sealing seat. Seems a bit Suss to me relying on a flimsy (most of them I have had are brittle) piece of cheap plastic.
