Gee, it is difficult for me to work out where and what the wiring does on this van. The 240 v charger charges the house battery when plugged into power. There is an AC lead from the charger that plugs into a double socket, the fridge also plugs into this socket. The charger was showing 5 amps and it did not matter if the lead to the charger was on or off!!! I think the solar can charge at the same time as the 240V charger??
It appears to me that everything that runs from 12 volts uses the house battery and the solar/AC charger keeps it topped up. 240V is available to the power sockets which run the fridge, microwave and the water heater as well as spare power sockets.
The 240V charger seems to automatically change from 240 V charging to the battery when 240 v is connected to the van.
There is quite a substantial positive cable from the battery through a fuse for approx. 40mm where it is downsized to supply the 12 volts. At least I am slowly working it out. I plan to draw a circuit diagram for future reference. THEN the water plumbing!!!! Pipes everywhere. There does not seem to be a position of a 3 or 4 way tap to allow the two tanks to equalize.
Yes that sounds right, as soon as the 240v is hooked up the Setec unit takes over and runs all the stuff. Your fridge might need to be manually switched over, not knowing which fridge you have. If you ring Jayco with your VIN number they should be able to tell you what Setec system you have, probably a 35Amp system, 15amp charger. Once you know the type of Setec system you should be able to download a operators manual for it from Setec Australia.
Paul, here is a Jayco wiring diagram which may be of some use. Don't know from what model - it does resemble my 2008 Sterling though. It is very hard to read but you will see how the Setec is connected.

Aussie Paul.
Hi Paul
[1]The Setec charger will charge the battery when ever it is connected to 240v, IF it is set in " CHARGE" mode
And yes the Solar can charge at the same time asthe mains unit
That should be confirmed, it may be in"POWER SUPPLY" mode ,in that mode it will not fully charge the batterries, will only supply a MAX of 13.8V
[2]I would hope the fridge, if a 3way ,is not running on the house batterries when on 12V operation!
A 3way fridge should never be run from the house battery/s when on 121V operation
Always run by a seperate set of cables from the vehicle batteryiTHeFRidhe should only run on 12
Brand & model number would assist for further comments on THAT
[3]It it is a Setec charger you should have been supplied with the manual
It will show the batterries always suply the van 12V even when connected to the mains
The 240V outlets are totally independant of the 12V circuits
[4]There is usualy no means of equilizing the tanks but it may be possible via the tank oulet taps if fitted AT THE TANKS into a common tee piece

Thanks for the circuit diagram Andy. Ralph, It is a 3 way Dometic fridge and I believe that when the fridge is on 12 volt it is supplied from tug.
The Jayco manual says to close the valve between the tanks for travel. I don't think that is possible. I am not complaining re Jayco, just interested in finding out how it all works together. I am a slow learner so that would explain it!!!
When plugged into 240 V what charges the battery, the solar or the Setec, or both? How does one change the Setec settings?
As old track has said the battery charges from both setech and solar when hooked to 240V. The wiring diagram is the DC side by the looks of it. My Jayco is a Starcraft 2013 vintage. The only thing I do when moving about is burn off the gas after closing the valve on the bottle and change the fridge to 12V which is supplied by the auxil circuit from the plug. Only need enough to keep it cold Im told it won't be too flash if you try to make a hot fridge cold on 12V. I also make sure the water pump is off as is the house battery. I'm assuming by the way my solar is wired that the solar will charge the battery on the trot.
All that being said it may be different with your van, I strongly suggest you talk to Jayco and get the good advice.
Safe travels

Ok, thanks Phil. I will have the van at Jayco Friday to reseal a section of the repairs, so will ask.
