No, it's actually a heater to keep warm John. I have heard of a gas or diesel heater but not the one I asked about. Apparently and according to Avan it works off the hot water storage tank.

I will be having as minimum 200w of Solar Panel on the roof charging as minimum 200ah batteries, with a 120w portable panel as well for when stationary for any length of time so I can follow the sun around.

We are having a new caravan built which will have a total of 360w solar panels, total 200 ah batteries, 12 volt fridge and a Truma combined Gas/Electric hot water and heater, we went this way because of issues with the 3 way fridges in the warmer areas of OZ, I like my beer cold. :) The gas that would have been used for the fridge if we had a 3 fridge is now used for the heater/hot water and this balances the gas usage out, there is a requirement to have an external vent.
Thanks NW, I am still deciding which way to go with heating when not on 240v. Some say Diesel is noisy and smelly and then some say Gas can run out and is quiet with no smell. All a personal choice thing I think. I will decide what way to go soon I reckon.
The system I asked about is apparently newish to the market and is being tested by a CV builder with success. At this stage I would prefer to keep my hot water separate from the heating of the Den.
