Sorry but I am a little lost here, how can you change the weight label that has been fitted by the manufacturer. I would have thought that is what it is and can't change. Is there something I am missing or don't know??

Don't think you've missed anything Doug. The TARE weight is with gas cylinders and water tanks (and the fridge) all empty. It might be a good idea to take a new van over the scales to check the compliance plate, as some have apparently been known to be a bit light on the truth. But we doubt you'd be able to get it changed to include the weight of full water-tanks.
Our (Jayco) compliance plate turned out to be correct right to the kilo, although the dealer had registered it incorrectly. Check the weights given on the appliance plate against what it says on the registration papers.
Doug, I think what Juergen was trying to indicate was to fill everything to capacity, and then make sure it was still legal, as in weighed less than the ATM on the compliance plate.
If it does not, then it may be possible to get the manufacturer to increase the ATM, as they MAY still have capacity within the limits of the suspension.
Now things are looking clearer. Must have been my visit to the eye quack yesterday, that or I got up this morning before Uncle Al. Must be I got up early cos the eye doc didn't do anything just said I am old and comes with the territory, can you believe that, old, I'll give the young whipper snapper old.
Thanks everyone for all the great advice and info. I will be booking a seat on a big silver bird later today and visit the city of churches 9/9 to check out said vans.
I rang the GM, Robbie to book in and he even offered to come and pick me up from the airport and take me back even if I don't buy yet, wow, now that is a good start I reckon. I have a lift s my mate "TCP 99" Terry is interested as well, "Glenelg" Dave, also offered to do the same thing and I haven't even met Dave yet.
Wow again, great people we have here, thanks everyone again. I will post outcome when I return.
