Birdsville bound

No, not me sadly. I just thought I'd share this amusing poem my niece wrote. (permission given) Her tug at the time was a Suzuki Vitara towing a tent trailer. She'd had for several years and had a lot of adventures in it.

The wandering Roo! By Nadia Schreiweis -getting bored between Rolleston and Moura so Megs gave me this topic to write a poem about. Some might call the trip along the diamentina development road character building! We were heading out west on a bumpy old track, when all of a sudden i heard a great wack!!Pulled off the road looked under the car and said "struth", dirty great rock hit underneath nearly through to the roof!Emptied the gear fluid every last drop, if we like it or not this is where will stop.So we sat there and waited for my father to see, that we were no longer travelling behind him with glee, then we looked up to see dad coming back with mum,he started to fix it while we sat on our bum, a few hours later dad and i set off to town, while we left mum and megs on the side of the road with a frown, we finally returned and had to spend the night, car all patched up and ready for another gravel fight, bouncing along to the Birdsville Races, dust and sunburn all over our faces, carnage, broken axles, busted tyres and few loos, we are heading to the desert to party like a wandering roo!!!

Ha! As if! disbelief aww

I did go through Birdsville 15+ years ago, but not during the races. That was in the days of the Troopy. Plenty Highway, Hart Ranges, Oodnadatta Track, Birdsville Track. Great vehicle for it. Great adventure.

By the way, you know my nieces parents. wink They're travelling in WA until December.
