Our trip home

Well we camped the third night on the Hay plains verrry cold morning ice on the windscreen but it was warm inside all in all it was a good trip home but boy does the price of fuel vary across this great land ! $1.50 through to $1.70

Anyway aside that when we got home and I were having a good look under the van I discovered to my horror that the spare wheel was no longer with us, the winch cable that lifts and also holds the wheel up under the van has broken, So may I suggest that others who also have this style of spare wheel carrier wind it down and inspect the cable to make sure you're spare wheel dosn't  run away with ours

Interesting you should say that... I did not like the look of my spare wheel hanging by a chain under the truck and had some wheel studs welded on a plate so I can bolt the wheel on after its been raised up... Just 2 studs with nuts tightened gives me some sense of security.

Just wait till you get over in the west.  Fuel (diesel prices vary from $2.50 on the Gibb River Road in WA to $2.30 on the Oodnadatta Track in SA.  We are grateful to be back in Qld and paying $1.60 again.

You mention some very remote and outback places regards fuel prices in WA and SA.

So what are the remote diesel prices in remote Queensland outback places, eg; the gulf, far western Queensland etc, to give a fair comparison ????? confuse

This link gives AVERAGE diesel prices for the metro and regional areas of each state, from the info on that Qld is about 5 cents cheaper on the WA prices, see;

Fare callVic,  Here are prices of diesel we have paid for since arriving back in Qld.

Camooweal $1.99

Mt Isa $1.54

Cloncurry $1.76

Burk & Wills Roadhouse $1.85

Normanton $1.77

Croydon $1.70

Georgetown $1.60

The Lynd $1.70

In Northern Territory, the highest we paid was $2.20 at Top Springs and Cape Crawford, the lowest was $1.68 at Katherine (cheaper fuel at Katherine than in Darwin)
