Towbar D connection

noI had a new towbar fitted to my PK Ranger Wildtrack about a year ago under warranty, but now getting ready to go caravanning I discover that the biggest D shackle I can fit to the towbar is a 1 tonne, given that the rules are that both safety chains and couplings must be 1.5 times heavier than the towed implement presents a bit of a problem. So rang Ford this morning to raise a complaint, that they have supplied and fitted a towbar that can legally only tow 750 kgs. We will see what happens.

What i understand is that it is 1.5 times the break load limit .not the working load limit.so the 1 ton is rated at 6 tons B.L.L so should be fine

I rang the Armidale Police station querying D shackle compliance and was told by a Highway Patrol officer that they were going by the weight that is written on the D itself, so if the D says 1T then it is one tonne. Not what I wanted to hear.
