Have an oldy but a goody.

Nissan GQ Patrol turbo diesel.

Basic...simple.... comfy enough for us....good economy...easy to service...AND...I can fix it (mostly) out in the sticks if I have to..with a basic toolbox and a multi meter.

Plus...for the age of it (97) has really low K,s so will last a good few years yet.

Not saying that the OP  should get one of these....but an older truck that's been looked after and is in good condition with low k,s is worth considering ....for all the above reasons.

Cheers  Keith

Nah...tis true john. Mine has less than half the K,s Ron had on his when he sold it.....and it wasn't that long ago either.

Mine has just clicked over 200000K....used to belong to a bloke who only used it to tow his boat to the dam and back about twice a month....and his wife used it for a shopping trolley in between. Lucky to get it really....as it was like new with only 84000 on it when we bought it 6 years ago.

So they are out there...older trucks that haven't done much work....and with my lack of knowledge of the newer high tech engines and stuff...are worth considering I reckon. Just gotta find one is all......

Cheers  Keith

Hmmmm confuse I certainly don't want to get into a P_ssing contest here (I generally find I'm pointing into the wind when I do try aww)

I have a 2013, 2.5L Turbo Diesel Auto 4x4 Triton. I'm pulling an ATM 1810Kg, 170kg on the towball pop top caravan.

It's no race horse (but certainly no "slug" either) but I am very happy with it.

Up to now we have only done a couple of short trips since getting the pop top so no "economy" figures to quote.

Would I buy another one, or recommend one. Hell Yeah!

Ask 50 people and you will get 50 opinions. Find what suits your budget, tastes, and ambitions, and go with it.

Good luck with your search smile

Jeff

Hi All Just thought I would throw my 2 bobs worth in. 8 weeks ago We took delivery of our new Nissan Navara V6 diesel. 550 n/m of torque, 170 kilowatts, that takes some beating, I wanted a duel cab from previous experiences, somewhere to throw the rattles or wet bits. Can take 4 adults in comfort but can handle rough going when called upon. We tow a 2 tonne caravan, in the back frig, gen set tools extra chairs, table, air compressor, 20 litres of water and the second battery, total about 160 kilos. Just done 6 weeks caravan trip up to Cookown 14.5 litres to the 100 ks. Average fuel consumptions over 6500 ks. Yes I am real happy the 7 speed automatic is a treat after a 4 speed auto. And very comfortable to boot. Ralph.

If price is a consideration, then Triton diesel auto at 32000 is a good choice , tows our 2 ton van easily .
