Posting a thread...

Gday...

I saw this a while ago .... I thought it definitely captured a typical thread on a forum.....

Post: How do I change my light bulb?

The Replies:

1 who has changed the light bulb and posts how the light bulb was changed.

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.

9 to warn of the dangers of changing light bulbs.

1 who wants it moved to the Lighting section.

3 who want it moved to the Electricals section

4 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs

5 to flame the spell checker community.

3 to correct spelling/grammar flames.

6 to argue over whether its "lightbulb" or "light bulb"

6 to condemn the above 6 as being stupid

4 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

8 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct.

9 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to take this discussion to a lightbulb forum

11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum.

18 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior.

7 as to what are the best light bulbs to use for the purpose.

5 to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs

3 to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URLs

4 to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to this group

6 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures.

5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy

4 To say, didnt we go through this already sometime back?

7 to say Google is your friend, search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

Cheers - John

Got a lot of time on your hands at the moment John?? Interesting post - and I know what you are saying is true - there are so many variables in answers to posts - my favourite is the very last statement - "1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months fro now, and start it all over again"!

Look at the last posted date - if more than a couple of months ago - start a "new topic". or you risk not having your post read, because people look at the first couple and the date - and just go out!!! Just my thoughts!

Ya gotta luv 'em, John - but the best thing is the "leavin" - no - really we don't have many problems with family - but would prefer to be away, and see them for short bursts now and then - don't want to know their problems!

Beautiful up here - heading to Tom Price for a looksee tomorrow - then back over to Onslow - too cold down south yet - we had about 28 here today, light breeze, sunshine!!!

Take care!biggrinbiggrin
