We were at Shady Camp (on Mary River) from 6th August.  Saw plenty of salties.  Some French tourists were planning to swim on the fresh water side of the barrage, about where the guy in this photo was fishing.  Note the croc in the background.

Note the top right of the pic - saltie lurking
