Can't understand why they allow un-switched multi point outlets boards. Most users fail to realize that the max loading is 10 amps for the entire board and then plug in a 2400 watt heater ( 10 Amps) and a range of other high draw appliances and wonder why they become red hot . Users have the habit of unplugging and plugging in appliances while the board is 240 volt live When they can sell them 4 for $10.00 tells me they certainly aren't all that high quality of a switched unit , which is still only rated at 10 Amps so why do it at all. These units are really only suitable for low draw appliances such as stereos and computers, printers etc

HI
I agree, I ,too do not like unswitched power boards, but any device connected to them should have a switch & should be switched "off" before unplugging
They were never intended for multi high current appliances .whhich is why NOW theySHALL be fitted with a 10A overload circuit breakerw
has been the case for quite a time
They are NOT APPROVED for use in tents, camping trailers, van annexes etc
I ran an insulation resistance check on one of these death traps I bought from Bunnings some years ago. The resistance was well below the limit of 1,000,000 Ohms. Returned it to Bunnings, they opened it up, seems someone spilled iced coffee or something else over a section of the pallet. I was asked to test a few more, found 6 out of the 20 faulty.
There are better (and, yes more expensive) ways to do this. My advice is avoid cheap un-switched power blocks like the plague.
Safe travels
