Steam Train ride over the Liverpool Range.

I hope Im not offending anyone by placing this here as I thought that it may suit the travellers as a chance to do something unique.

Steam train buffs dont miss out on the trip of a lifetime over the Liverpool range from Murrurundi in the Upper Hunter Valley NSW through the Ardglen tunnel in an old 1930s carriage hauled by 3642 steam loco. The trip finishes at Quirindi NSW about 38km away.

This is a 1 in 40 grade over the range which is equal to the steepest on main line track NSW.

You can park your rig at Wilsons Memorial park Opposite the Post Office then a leisurely 10 min walk to the Murrurundi Station.

Train departs at 2.55pm on Thursday 28th August 2014 arriving at Quirindi at 4.05pm a coach will bring you back to Murrurundi and drop you off at the park.

You can park overnight at the park for free 24 Hours but you must not uncouple the rig.

Toilets are available.

All inclusive price is $35.00 per person.

I can't see anyone being offended Murraman, it's part of the big playground, sounds great. Nothing like a ride on a train with Thomas up front blowing his stack. Any pics??

I'll post some pics when it arrives, I worked with them years ago and cannot get the steam out of my veins. Its funny as I have been banned from another nomad forum for posting the same info.

My favourite steam I worked was the Garrett especially as a double header, We worked them out of Fassifern NSW. Standing start with 1200 Tonne into a 1 in 40 grade

Another steam railway to ride on. YIPPEE
I cant get the web site to load so not sure if it is me or not.
You are cruel as I thought I had the list done to visit and now I have to add another one.
I spend many months at the Victorian Goldfields Railway at Maldon Victoria so yes I am a steam nut to.
Just looked at the map, what is the road like from Newcastle to Singleton like as I have a 7mtr bus and trailer so don't like the mountain goat roads. I have to get some road fix next week so might venture that way instead of west.
Regards
Brian

beiffe, the new England highway is a good road all the way to Murrurundi. just keep an eye out for the speed cameras and the flash for cash cars.

Beiffe, They have recently put in the F3 extension so from Newcastle once you leave the link road it is 110km/ph to just before Branxton. We have a few unmarked police cars around and they seem to get in some good hidey holes that are hard to see near Muswellbrook both ends so stick to the 50. Once you leave mbk it is a breeze.

Yeah the link wouldn't work for me now as it looks like Des has changed it so here it is.
