The Grey Nomads Forum Anniversary Birthday.....

Webmaster wrote:

Hi everybody.
Sorry for not replying earlier. I think its a great idea to have a birthday celebration for the forum. Its a bit frightening that it will be 10 years though! We actually started the website and the forum at exactly the same time although, as some of you will remember, it took a while for things to really take off. It is amazing to see how much we have grown since our humble beginnings and I reckon a decade of fun on the friendly forum is a very acceptable reason to get some Champagne corks popping. It looks like February 17, 2005, was the day we were born ,and so I hereby officially declare February 17, 2015, to be the day for our 10th birthday celebrations. Hooray! Well make that the starting point and perhaps we can think over the weeks and months ahead about the best and most fun - ways we can celebrate the special day. Please let me know if youve got any ideas. Oh, and if anyone fancies celebrating a little bit early, as well please go right ahead!

Thanks Cindy, could we have the birthday date added to the birthday list please on the Calendar, to remind some of us.

Thanks for providing such a great forum and..."LONG LIVE THE FORUM".....Yes I am shouting but it is worth shouting about! biggrin biggrin biggrin

PS:  I have just marked 17th February 2015 on my home/travel calendar for the 10th Anniversary !!! smile smile smile  smile biggrin biggrin biggrin

Ooooops......I think Dave meant Cindy, and I thought it must have been "the rocket" as the avatar showed a female....but having just checked the profile see it is a male........Us old farts are allowed a few "seniors moments" now and then hmm no no no

Wow, 10 years... thanks Cindy! Suggestions....

If a series of get-togethers around the country can be arranged, we'll be there!
Or maybe another competition for the forum?

Wombat's the old fart, I'm just getting old.

My granddaughter told me last night I was old so I told her, yeh I might be old but you still have to get there biggrin

Just as well he has those two young carers to look after him Doug and take him for his daily stroll in his wheelchair.... wink biggrin biggrin biggrin

Gerty, sounds good, I reckon Greens will figure prominently for those over that way, competition of some sort sounds good too.

(How about photo's of Happy Hours for starters ????)

I like the get together idea. Maybe it could be arranged at various locations for the same day, same time (allowing for time differences). then at the agreed time we could do a toast and sing happy birthday.

If it is logistically impossible maybe we could just do the toast wherever we are and post pics in a "Sticky" thread, set up by Cindy for all to see forever.
