Free camping Bourke NSW

Hi Cyril our caravan has gotten us this far, we are in Cobar and now as we head to Moree via Bourke and Lightning Ridge we would like to try free camping.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Safer to stay at Kidmans Camp just out of Bourke. Don't freecamp near Bourke. Other spots I don't know.

We stayed at Rossmore Station. $20 per night on the side of a creek. The farmer comes and gets his $20 about dinner time. Nothing there, but peace, quiet, safe. Close enough to travel to Bourke for sightseeing. 0427815385

Mays Bend approx 10 or 15 kilometeres North of Bourke off the Kidman Way/Mitchell highway, Bourke info centre will even supply you with a map.

It's a great spot, right on the banks of the Darling, not overcrowded, lots of bird life, nice scenery, plenty of room to do a bit of bush walking safe as houses and of course its free.

The road in is pretty rough in spots, just take it easy and you will be fine.

Gday...

This is May's Bend on the Darling River near Bourke. The view from the campspot.

Good camp on the edge of Walget, another on the road to Lightening ridge. Check my blog. Dont let people put you off Walget - I had several days in the camp area and no problems at all!
