We left Melbourne on Wednesday heading north to escape the cold, first day we stopped at a free camp in Culcairn, we were happy the rig had performed well, and our battery was full after a mainly overcast day.
We sort of brushed over the fact that the rest stop we camped in was close to the highway, well it could not be much farther away, as the railway was on the other side. Yep you guessed it, it was a noisy night, OK for me, I slept through it, but poor Carol was awake almost all night. After trying sheep, I suggest she count trains or trucks, nothing worked.
Having breakfast, and my son rang me from Bathurst, he asked when I planned to get into Bathurst, Thursday or Friday was the answer. He responded laughing that we better make it Thursday, or we might not get in, as there was snow forecast down to 600m (Bathurst is about 650). Why didnt we take the hint and head up the coast, the things we do for family.
So here we are sitting in Bathurst, temperature outside is about three degrees, some roads were closed this morning with snow cover. The reverse cycle works really well, and it is almost silent, so inside it is about 24 degrees.
No snow in Bathurst so far, but given how cold it is today, and the solid cloud cover, I would not be surprised to be in a snows-cape tomorrow. Does anyone know the snow rating of an awning?
Set it steep in anticipation.
We plan to stay here until Monday AM, then head east over the Blue Mountains then turn left. With any luck we will escape the cold next week.
Hi Plendo, I don`t think it will matter where you are at the moment it is still dam cold , but I guess if you don't seek you will not find .My awning doesn`t like the weight of water on it let alone snow . Enjoy your trip.
Hate to diffa Dennis but it's not cold here in down town Townsville, just perfect really.
...and David, I won't say I told you so.
One thing is for sure though David it will get better soon mate and we might enjoy the weather together over on the coast in a few weeks. Hope so anyway. I will try and sneak some of this perfect weather down with me.
Oh! Did I say it was just perfect weather here??
Edit.....typo (must he the perfect weather here)

Gee Dave, it must be tough getting old! Don't you remember the snow falls at Yetholme. I know I do and you are younger than me. Hehehe. I think some of Billeeeeeee must be rubbing off on me.
Send me a message if you would to meet for coffee
John
that is just cruelty, I do not have enough time to make it that far north, I need to be back in Melbourne by the 15th of August. I reckon I will settle with "reasonable" weather around south east Queensland, then drift slowly south over the last two weeks.
Has to be better than 3 degrees, but at least it has not snowed YET.
Dave and Carol, thanks for the coffee, was great to catchup after all these years. Travell safe and I'm sure we will meet again somewhere and it will be my turn to do the coffees.
