scum bags

Hi Folks . watching the news and there was a story on a couple of GN`s that were ready to go away to Darwin and some scumbag drove into there yard and stole the new caravan while they were home , how brazen are these mongrels getting now to steal someone`s gear . If you are on this forum I sincerely hope you get it all back.

Dennis and Yvonne, low life comes to mind as well.

I couldn't imagine they would be "Members" of this great forum as all the GN Members that I have met are all extremely nice people, every one of them and would not do something like that. The people that did take it could be lurkers of course. I am not saying all lurkers are like that though.

Hang 'em by the nearest tree during in a really bad storm and enjoy watching them suffer. Then take them and the van to a city square in a big city with a sign saying "I stole this" while they are in good old fashioned stocks and chains. Could even leave a BIG bucket of rotten tomatoes.

WHO SAID THAT???

I agree doug , it seems that there is a lot of lowlife out there just waiting for the opportunity and I guess it just makes one more vigilant with the gear we have. Its bad enough when you come home to a burglary let alone have one when you are there.

Yes it seems to be happening a lot now, someone in WA had their camper trailer all packed and ready to take off with the kids for the school holidays the next morning, they also had it parked in the front yard, woke to find it gone, mongrels furious

Dougwe, I think you need to take your meds.

I think exa41 was saying (If you are on this forum I sincerely hope you get it all back.) to the people who had lost the van

It's a sad state of affairs when we have to go around our own property with everything locked and chained. When we first considered buying an RV, the very first thing we did was think about where we could store it so that it would be difficult to steal. Whenever we're away, we always put everything inside at night that's not bolted down. So far, to the best of our knowledge, we have only lost a battery from the A frame which at the time wasn't padlocked.
From what I understand, most vans are stolen to fill an order. That means some people out there amongst us are driving vans they know were stolen. If you care about your belongings, I suggest you invest in lots of quality locks and at least you'll stop a lot of the "honest" thieves.

RE: scum bags - BUT Some Good News

I just heard on Sydney radio news that a Queensland dreadlock wig wearing male has been arrested in Victoria accused of stealing two caravans and attempting to steal two others.

Good work again by the coppers and lets hope (if proven guilty) he gets more than the traditional slap with a wet lettuce leaf by the judiciary and hopefully the Police will be afforded the time to get into the sale chain that obviously exists.

Keith....biggrin

Maybe, but the girls were always sure it was Errol there in the dark.

Must have been his self deprecating humour and not his swordsmanship.

I just re-read your original post and I misread it but that's nothing new for me lately as I have been effected by wombat dust. It's like bull dust.

My comment for punishment still stands though.

Sounds like the people got things back so all good in the end.

 Brings back memories  ....

My Father in Law was very concerned that we were not taking a gun with us when we went around Australia in 2000.

But I do have a hard plastic pipe waddy on the floor beside the bed as well as a 2 foot long 8 battery old fashioned Mag-Lite.  (My Brother used to take it with him when he was required to do Army 'MP' duty many years ago.  He showed me how to use it as both a torch & weapon.   Hold it near the lens end with it resting over your shoulder, focus the beam into their eyes then whammo!)

edit ..  PS

After our last trip we had a function to go to after getting home so I just jeft the Patrol hooked up to the van up the side of the house.

After dinner, I went out to the van to get something from the fridge & had hardly opened the fridge when a loud voice called out ... "Who's that?  Is that you Graham?".

It was my neighbour who has his bedroom up one story & right beside the where I store the van.

Great security & great neighbours!

I have a Remington Survival rifle , which is an over/under 20 g shotgun and .22 long combo. I use it for hunting and shooting sharks in my charter boat business.Since having it aboard when traveling , I haven,t had any problems. Then again, I haven,t had to use it -yet. Its a bit like a condom-you can,t use it if you haven,t got it.Perhaps a baseballbat would be nearly as good. Bill

Not in Oz, but I got one from a gunshop which imports them.About $350 a few years ago.Just found out that the shotgun will fire .45 acp rounds, but am scared to try as it might blow up! 20g solids stop pigs at close range(20m).They fold up for carrying and safe storage.Good little jigger.Bill
