Mirror monitor for reversing camera.

I'm thinking of installing camera's to the rear of the tug and caravan.

I would be interested in opinions from anyone using a mirror type monitor and how it performs.

I'm limited for space to fit a normal  7" monitor without partly blocking vision or being in the way of something else.

The one I have in mind is from "Safety Dave" and is connected by 4 pin cable.

Any opinion from personal experience  would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, - John

Hi John, I have the mirror monitor from Safety Dave, works well as a monitor, lots of brightness and contrast adjustment, good clarity of image. The problems it suffers are both from the mirror function, when using it as a monitor it does show reflections from inside the vehicle (acting as a mirror), and when using it as a mirror the reflection is a little dull.

I am like you, I lack space on the dash, and actually prefer having the rear view image where I expect to find it, where the mirror normally is. I install mine when I am towing, but if I am not going to tow for a couple of days I take it off.

I bought mine on Ebay. This is the 2nd one I have had - both wreless. 1st one went with the van when I sold it. I've found that it is best to reposition the mirror to face myself and that way you reduce the reflections. I've wired my camera so that it only works when the car/van lights are on.smile

Thanks guys for the feedback.
I think I will go ahead and buy it and like Plendo will remove it when not towing as that seems the best way to go for my situation.
Appreciate your help.
Cheers, John
