Buyer beware. If they are as bad to deal with as NSW I wouldn't go near them. Slow and expensive after the death even if the service is free before.
Ditto for Victoria. You can also leave the original in the safe keeping of your solicitor or bank ad keep a certified copy for yourself. This also applies to a Power of Attorney. And the Public trustee will do your Will and Power of Attorney for free. But remember the saying, "I'm from the Government and I'm hear to help you" Yeh right. OJ

The public trustee in Tassie did my mothers will and he was very, very good. Stopped an attempt to contest the will within a week because of the way it was worded, which was what my mother had wanted. Not saying a solicitor couldn't do the same but my wife is going through this with her mothers will and two greedy bitches for sisters but I'll go no further there as it makes my blood boil, all because of a lazy solicitor who failed to give good advice.

IMHO the WA Public Trustee are frauds like the rest of financial wizards.
They offer services to young people and request a document claiming a small percentage of the estate as settlement. 5 or 6% of your estate when you have bugger all sounds OK but after a lifetime of work and assets in the hundreds of thousands it adds up to big $$$.
They administered my grandmothers estate and were inept, inefficient and downright useless.
The WA Public Trustees no longer charge a percentage but fees according to what they do, not saying it is any better and it might be worse, but the percentage no longer applies.
If you read the link there is an attachment of fees they charge today. But who do you trust to administer your Will? Solicitors and Lawyers charge (can be a lot) to do it unless a family member wants to do it, then that can cause friction and problems in itself. I don't think it is cheap whoever do it, always someone with their hands in the pot.
