I have been considering installing a diesel heater on my caravan there seems to be 2 or 3 options. Two are very expensive compared to the Snuggler. Could members with experience of these Air Heaters please Give me their opinion of which to buy and why?
The Snugger I see is Chinese but looks similar to the Dometic It is about half the price which is a big incentive to consider it. Can the Snugger have two outlets (1 in the bathroom) is it as reliable as the others, does it have good back up and spares availability Etc.
I too have been considering installing a diesel heater. I was watching the Expanda Downunder forum and there are quite a few posts on buying/installing this heater which is listed on ebay.. www.ebay.com.au/itm/350860104497 for $800.
Sold our Jayco now, but if we decide to do it, then I will be purchasing one and installing into a Coromal Van soon.

Hi I purchased a planar from Ali Baba $480 4 days delivery to adelaide fitted it myself .It is now working its second winter & is possibly the best purchase I have ever made .
hi moonraker , we installed a snugger last year, its running now very quiet i,m cosy warm reading your post and writing to you , cant go wrong , great back up service and a really good idea for fuel pick up , you get a pick up kit , use a jerry can drill a 25mm hole saw , insert the pick up tube and use the one way connector , similar to a outbaord motor fuel tank , you can disconnect it and no air gets i n to the line , we fill our jerry can , very rarely , reconnect the fitting and away it goes , the beauty of this is if your van is connected 1; you can fill whilst filing your veichle , ours is on the drawbar , or 2 ; if you are set up somewhere , you can easily tae your jerry to a station fill it up and reconnect , no having to transfer fuel purchased to your tank when you get back . easy to install too , we looked at snugger and planar , both very similar and we think good value heating , i,ll tyr and attach a pic of our connector and can good luck graeme
I have six years' experience with a Dometic Eberspaecher D2. It has been completely reliable with minimal servicing.
Installed it myself in my camper connecting into the diesel fuel tank.
Thanks everyone for you help and assistance. I have a good incentive to make up my mind soon, here in Perth it was only 3 degrees last night and Perth is one of the warmer areas of the southern half of WA this time of year!
Thanks again
Cheers

hi guys,,,In my opinion it all depends on the fuel source that is available...If you have LPG on your rig why use diesel for heating I guess the diesel option is cheaper to purchase but it has some downsides as well...e/g ticking/fumes/noisy fan ..The gas option is quiet/ thrifty on fuel,,and runs off the vans supply Yes it is more expensive re purchase,,,but how many times do you need to buy these items...I have a caravan so i may be a bit negative,,but a friend installed diesel in his van and now admits it was a bad decision ...
Sorry guys i don't want to take sides,,but it needs to be assessed...
