A time had to come when injuries took their toll & we'll say nothing about the role of the ref (well, maybe only a little bit). We Queenslanders are used to a rotten deal in all things in RL administration.
..From The Daily Telegraph ........................................................................................................................................................................
FORGET Jarryd the Hayne that truly threatens Queensland is referee Shayne.
The Maroons will need to overcome a shocking penalty count history under Shayne Hayne to keep the Origin series alive in Sydney next Wednesday.
With Hayne as referee, the Maroons have only won the penalty count outside of Brisbane once during their eight-year win streak.
That enigma occurred five years ago.
Haynes referee partner for Origin II, Ben Cummins, has officiated five Origins and the Blues have won four of those penalty counts.
Blues officials privately feel Hayne, the senior referee, cracked under the Suncorp Stadium pressure in Origin I. (ha ha! that means that he did not once again blatantly favor NSW as they are used to .. G)
Queensland did win the penalty count (in QLD .. G) in the series opener, 7-4, but both teams were on the wrong end of poor decisions.
Queensland coach Mal Meninga said he was content with the referee appointments and it was bizarre the Maroons have been branded whingers.
I thought both teams handled the poor decisions, if they want to call it that, really well, Meninga said. That is what footy is about, not complaining about decisions but about what you do next about when a decision goes against you. I think both teams handled that really well.
Unlike Mal, I don't mind having a winge & highlighting the part the ref plays. Like the, yet again, blatant forearm by dingo Gallen to the head of a tackled opponent that went unreported or punished, compared to the playful slap by hero JT that resulted in a critical penalty. How he (dingo Gallen) can complain to the ref about Qld using the forearm in tackles astounds me. Have a look at the video & you'll see him do this in many of his tackles with impunity of course. It's just like Bird complaining about head high tackles as he runs around the field with his head poking up like a turkey just looking for an opportunity to pretend that he has been hit high. He, turkey Bird, might be better off playing soccer & taking dives there.
By the way, any bets on the blues player escaping any realistic action for the yet again lifting spear tackle? Just like the previous one on hero Tate & that much publicised one, dingo Gallen's forearm (yet again) followed up with punches to the head of nice guy Nate Miles.
Having said that ...... congratulations to the ****roaches. Off now to delete that recorded game from my HDD.
Does 2 points advantage represent a 'flogging' or were you referring to the NSW blantant dirty play compared to the, as usual, squeaky clean play of our boys?

Let's see....
Qld has won for the past 8 or so years but, when NSW finally wins a series you blame Qld's loss on injuries and a biased referee?.
And as for the so-called rough tactics, THIS IS STATE OF ORIGIN! Qld & NSW have played it the same way since it's inception in the 70's.
Suck it up and stop whinging.
Sorry, I have no Queenslanders around to stir so your it Cupie.

You got it in one ....
Shows just how good we are in that good (that's us) triumphed over evil (that's you guys) for soo long despite the things that I & your newspaper highlighted....
No local NSW supporters for me to stir neither.
Cheers ... G
ps... I must say that I do have a sneaking liking for Gallen, but only when he plays for Australia.
Don't tell any one though will you.
He has been the change agent for the Blues. Plays with the commitment of a Queenslander.

As KFT says
"IMHO it was a dirty game with biffo from both sides and lots of loose ball."
SofO is meant to be a tough game.
We Queenslanders have revelled in the glory of 8 series win, and I guess that 9 would have been fine.
But!!! What really gets under my skin is the NSW commentators on C.9 saying we have to spread the ball wide, we have to bring Haynes into it more.... we have to... we have to.... we have to
These blue boys if they want the job, should be totally impartial and stop saying we ... we.... we... we.
Last night I had had enough of Guss so I turned down the sound and thoroughly enjoy the contest in the middle.
