Get a letter from your Doc is best stating any meds and your condition etc, also if travelling your doctor can give you a special scrip under a section (24 I think) which allows you to get more than the usual supply.
Carry a card in your wallet too for your Dr and any specialist you see in case your are knocked unconscious in an accident or passed out generally.
Their is also the online medical info site you can join for free giving other doctors access to your hospital/dr's files if you wish to join it (free).
hi we have been around the block and away from our home state every year never had any probs getting our scrips .all the best fred
Me too. No problem with regular Prescriptions. When you go to a Chemist who is not your regular, they may want to see your Pension and Medicare cards..

Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
i was at the Docs last week we were talking about my tablets when i go on the rd, she told me to come back just before i go and give me 6 months supply and this form 21 or 24 as Vic said , the doc told me 6 month is the limit in South Aus.
she also told me some of the smaller chemists may not have some of my tabs.
when i do go on the rd i can go to my local chemist with this form 20 what ever and you can get the 6 month of tabs in one go.
good to know you guys got yours OK when interstate
I have generally found it OK so far however when in Tassie early this year I couldn't get one of the tabs as it was on a Victorian Script, to get it I had to see a local Doctor, no prob as I have a letter from my regular GP. Another problem is the same tab in NSW, they keep the script even if it has repeats. Haven't had a problem in Queensland so far. I agree that smaller towns might not have something in stock but can usually get it in within a couple of days for you.

We always get regulation 24 scripts before we leave home & have never had any problems anywhere. You can either get the 6mths filled out at once or monthly. Because of Bruce's Serc tabs we always get the 6mths as many chemists do not stock this Meniere's tablet & as it is not a PBS we can claim through our Insurance before we leave home.
You will have problems if you need Opiates. Qld and NSW will dispense scripts from any state, the rest will not dispense out of state scripts for opiates. Bit stupid when you think the PBS is federal.
Your best bet is get a letter from your doctor and visit local doctors
Regulation 24 is the way to go. Get 6 months supply at once.
Cheers,
Sheba.
But if you do, either keep them in the fridge or a dry esky......I keep mine in a small dry Coleman Esky, keeps extreme temperatures out, try to open only in the cooler periods of the day/night if possible.
