I have a campervan with sliding door. would much prefer a hinged one.
is it possible or an expense I can do without.
haven't checked it out with conversion companies as yet.

I have never seen a side hinged door on a van. I like the sliding doors as if you want to access the inside in parking areas with others parked alongside you (eg; shopping centre carparks). With a hinged door it will be difficult to open the door because of it's size.
Don't worry about the noise of a sliding door, as long as you are responsible with the opening and closing of the door it is no different from other types of RV's making noises either (eg; hitching up early in the morning, rattling chains, starting and running vehicles, calling out loudly to each other, loud TV's blaring, etc etc. I am not talking about all, just a minority. Sliding door RV owners have just as much rights as others to have their type of RV. Once I asked an CP owner to give me a site away from other RV's, his answer was you have paid for your site just the same as them, if they don't like it then too bad.
That is not to say that ANY type of RV owner whizzbangs included should not try to be considerate of others.

all have valid points and one thing I was concerned about until now is the night noise of the whiz-bang, having heard complaints from others about them. (had a caravan prior to this and hasten to add, had no reason to complain)
have the loo on board so my only reason for opening it late at night is for the dog; she just hasn't caught on to sitting like a girl should.

You'll have to train her to wait 'till morning frednme. I used to travel with smalldogs, and they never needed to go out once I had locked the door for the night. Same thing at home. Once they went to bed, they didn't get out 'till morning.

Exactly as Vic says, don't worry about it as long as you are responsible with the opening and closing of the door.
I did see somewhere the cost of a built in hinged door was about $6000. I've seen a few homemade ones and a hinged back door might help with the problem of the whizzbanging.
