Just wanting to say Hello

I am just a new member of this site and would like to just say hello to all the other grey nomads out there, as I have already met a few on the road and where I am currently staying at Inskip Point.

I will be here for a while as I have blown the clutch in the bus as I came through Gympie a couple of weeks ago, and am still waiting for either the bank to increase my credit card or I get some money from my pension to that I can get it fixed.

Anyway I am travelling alone with my 2 dogs, mother and daughter, Midnight and Honey, in a Toyota Coaster converted and towing a 2 tonne car trailer behind with the rest of my life.

So somewhere along the road I hope to meet up with some of you and we can share some time and information.

Cheers for now.

Barry.

Welcome to the gang Barry, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I sure hope you get things sorted sooner than soon. You could get your mob to push. Just a suggestion and I might go hide behind a big rock now with a suite of armour on just incase they find me.

Welcome Barry , I can vouch for Mr Coaster , I blew a gearbox in the coaster and he was the only person that had one .

G'day Barry, Sorry to hear of your problems, but you've chosen the right forum. They are a friendly and informative lot in here. Though there are some (strange) ones amongst them.

Hope your problems get sorted quickly.

G'day Baz,

I was wondering how long it would take you to find this site !!! I've been on here for some time now, I reckon it's a great site - I've learnt heaps from other GN's.

I see you're still in Inskip - we're off to Alex Headland in the morning for our 40th anniversary (with the family), Vonnie's looking forward to the break.

Hope Middie and Honey are looking after you - you can always keep in touch with me via PM at any time.

Regards, Big Bro, Brian

Hello Baz,
Welcome to the site - we have found the info on here invaluable!
They are a great bunch of people - we were lucky to meet a number of the regulars at Greens Lake (Vic) last year where were made to feel very welcome.

We would be really interested to hear about your rig as we are in the process of looking for a Coaster to do up. Do you have any pics?

I have recently posted a topic/survey http://thegreynomads.activeboard.com/forum.spark?aBID=51933&p=3&topicID=57796641

to get a feel of what people do with regards towing - some interesting comments.

Anyway - enjoy yourself out there in the playground and i hope your rig gets fixed ASAP.

Cheers

Chris and Peter

Hello all.
As there are too many of you to address each one I will do it all in one go.
Its not great to be broken down in the bush, but as everyone keeps saying at least you are broken down in the right place.
As for the bus being turbo as I think one GN stated, I wish it was as once I hook up the trailer the old girl knows its got some weight on it.
And to ShortNorth, hello big brother, and as per our conversation this morning, I forgot to say, Happy Anniversary to you and Vonnie.
Hope you have a good time at Alex Heads, and will talk again soon.
Furthermore the girls are looking after me, as they are trying to kick me out of my bed since they sleep on most of it.
Am going to slowly sort out my gear and get a few things done here while waiting for money to fix the bus which should be another 3 weeks away.
Then pack things up after its done and slowly work my way up to Bundaberg where I plan on opening a new bank account with a new bank since the one I am with now
has treated my like **** as far as I am concerned, as their customer service is very poor.
Then after Bundaberg heading for Kalpowar State Forest for a week before slipping around to Boynedale Bush Camp for another weeks and do some fishing there on the Boyne River,
then to Calliope for a couple of days, and finally up to see a friend at Rocky.
From there I will be heading to Byfield for about a week, as it also depends on the fishing and sights there, then out to Emerald and beyond to do some shooting and exploring.
These are my plans for the next bit of my travels as after that it all depends on where I want to go and want to do as to my next local from there.
Anyway cheers for now.
Barry.

Well have found a very good deal on the parts required from a company in Perth, so will be ordering them Monday morning but it will take about 7 odd days to get here, then have them fitted and then im out of here north.
As for the fishing finally had some luck.
Went the other night and caught 7 nice whiting, so went out there again the next night and caught 32, so had a good feed of fillets and chips tonight.
Anyway power going on computer.
stay safe and cheers for now.
Barry.

Hello from me too.

You had me worried about the girls on the bed as I missread your original post thinking you were traveling with 2 dogs and your mother and your daughter!

When you are back on the road keep coming north, it just gets better.

LOL now after reading that comment Willow I am laughing.
Yes they are 2 dogs a mother and daughter as Honey is out of Midnights 2nd litter.
She was so beautiful when she was born I just had to keep her, but sometimes think I should have kept her twin brother too.
But 2 dogs are enough not 3.
And yes they do take up the bed at night, if I get out to go down the front of the bus to get something, a drink, my glasses, etc I will come back and find Honey laying where I just got up from.
Then at night when you are trying to sleep they just want to lay all over you and you keep telling them to move and they do for about 2 seconds then they are back.
They just don't like sleep up the front over the engine bay between the seats, and when they do I wake up and find Honey laying on the floor beside the bed just looking up at me, saying dad I want up on the bed, and before I know it she has jumped up on the bed and then along comes mum and jumps up too.
So I now just give in and let them up on their bedding which I put over my bed to stop any dirt and mess from the getting into my bed, but at the moment here at Inskip as it is just sand everywhere, it ends up in the bed anyway.
As for heading north I am, as after here going to Childers, then Bundaberg, then up to Kalpowar State Forest, around the corner to Boynedale Bush Camp, to Calliope and then to Rocky to see a friend.
After there up to Yeppoon and Byfields State Forest, then out west to Emerald and the gemfields for a while, then coming back in thru the coalfields to Mackay to see a cousin up there, then to the Whitsundays to see another cousin, to Townsville to see another friend and finally before it is his birthday up to Cairns to see my son.
So hopefully I will eventually get to the cape and gulf, and come back down the inland way stopping off in Mt Isa to see a brother in law then continue south back to Toowoomba to see the kids.
After that it should be south into NSW and continue around Australia.
