RE: Why do some stay incognito and others use their own name...

The Mongrel is my real name as I have been called that for as long as I can remember.
It became more pronounced when through the forum I met wombat,Dougwe Vic Dazren and others.
Alan is my real name but it does not suit me..If anyone knows the truth ask Dougwe.

Mongrel.

When I 1st came on here I had a school age child .

I Still believe we should be security wise as well .

I use Zoomtop , it is a nick-name I acquired at 15,

I sign-off with Richo . Well it's Aussie  , like Smithie .

I went to a reunion in Hawaii in 08 , with people who came from

all over the world , 1050 of us , all of us had an "aka" none of us had any trouble

I-d ing each other. Even tho I live in th Grafton area , I'm yet to catch up with ,

3 'known gn's' from this forum .

I Don't see it as a problem , I see it as individuality , like the name I put on th last truck I drove .

Some of you know , th "Mack Munchers" "Hummin Cummins" "PussyPower" . I worked for a firm

called Lickermans Tpt , I drove a Western Star - Superstar model , with a Detroit motor in it . on th

'bug deflecter' I had ..... "Lickalotopuss"  - I got th idea from a joke -""what do you get if you cross a

hippopotamus with a lesbian" - a hippolickalotopuss . Well I worked for Lickermans , the motor in my

truck out-did Cat motors(Caterpillar)............. besides

It Adds some character

I initially used my nickname because people who do not know me very well tend to use it.

My friends know I don't like it and therefore use my correct name, Ken.

I tend to think that some people, not all, do not want to be recognized when on the road, due to there agro style on these forums.

If you can't say it to someone's face, don't say it.

Ken

Hi Guys , When I was more active in motorsport than I am now it was convenient to have a user name as Exa41 , Nissan Exa being the car that I raced and 41 being my preferred number . It also helped with some of the less interesting members that you would rather ignor .
The problem being that if you visit more than one forum you tend to use the same name for convenience and I don`t want to remember 20 user names and passwords . I have only been on this forum for a relatively short time but still sign off Yvonne and Dennis (automatically) , I have had my name for 66years now and not ashamed to post it and if anyone wants to PM or Email feel free to do so , as for others I don't care what you call me except for Hay You.

I agree with everyone biggrinbiggrin. Personal choice for a whole range of reasons.

Like Dougwe usually I only ever got called by my full first name in when I was in trouble nono. I have 3 older siblings and it's interesting (to me anyway) that they always call me by my full name, it seems they still want to keep me in my place after all these years evileye.

My forum name. Just the usual aussie halve the name and tack an "o" at the end. My choice and certainly better than some of the "R" rated ones I've been called over the years. wink

I'm fat I get around in a dressing gown and slippers most days and my hair only grows at the sides and back of my head. I used to live on edge of a well forested national park

What else you gonna call me?

Dont answer that.

I'm happy to use my name, suburb, and email, but don't want strangers dropping in or calling my phone, I would prefer to get to know them first.

It is interesting how many here do put their first name up with their post or have it in the posting name...

Lesley, I guess none of us really expect to get unwanted contact from members and visitors and if it does happen (unwanted that is) there is a course of action available to stop it..

the least of which is putting the name of the person up on a thread for all to see nothing like a bit of Name and Shame...biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Thanks everyone for replying so far, it sure has created a bit of interest.. and also allowed some of us to understand each other a bit better..

Wow! Google must be more 'investigative' than Bing. Everything I've written on this forum?? They always say, if you don't want the world to know, don't write it on the www.

Hi All

Interesting read people.

Radar come about years back at a transport yard I worked at, one of the guys said to a new driver ask Radar he know how and where it, struck like glue. It was said with out offence to me it was just that I had 18 years at the time doing delivers around the south east Queensland area and was considered very knowledgeable on the Brisbane area. The best way in and out with long and medium wide loads of steel to our regular customers.

So over the company radio network you would here "if your not sure check with Radar". Ralph
