Thanks Dave, I have registered already www.auspost.com.au/mypost and those who qualify for a concession also get cheaper stamps and mail hold and re-direction.

There is also an explanation as to why it gives you more options that saying paying with your online banking etc in the letter they send with your card.   Still to be convinced about the payment benefits, but have my card and will definitely use it for stamps/mail hold and re-direction.

I had a look at that site and they want way toooo much information for me, any site that wants my email address and my home address gets a big bypass from me.

Vic, you can get the stamps reduction without joining that site, just ask at your local PO.

If you use your bank for on line banking----why change?

Another way to extract a LOT more info about you! (In my opinion) It would seem to be a digital version of the "Surveys" they were sending to your street address. The stamp bit is a real doozy, we would use about 15 or 20 stamps over a year. (including Christmas cards.)

Regards,

I also agree here, but we do use more stamps because we do not bank online

Why do you say that Wombat, I rarely ever go near a bank now all my transactions are online, I don't see any problem.

Cheers

I'm with you Dutchy .. got pinged some years ago .. but that simply changed my style .. all my online transactions need a specific approval now .. works a charm ..

I have already put my form in and got my stamps Wombat, but thanks.

In regards to online banking and bill paying etc, works for me, been doing it for years with no problems.

As well as the usual security to do a transaction, the bank I use also sends the user a "scrambler" which gives you a code number for the transaction you are doing each time you do one by pressing a button.   This is a hand held device not connected to the internet, however must match up somehow with your transaction when you do it online.

As I said, I have not had a problem in all my years of online banking with this particular bank.

Email and home address !  Without these you wouldn't be able to get any mail at all.

I should have said IMHO, it would be a strange world if we all thought the same.

I don't understand, are you saying that you must put your email and home address to get an email account online?

I agree Wombat, I like to be the one in control of my banking and account, and the amount of personal info I am prepared to give them.  The less information volunteered online the better...Kisha

Other people think differently and that is ok by me.

Ditto! absolutely, and yes not everyone will agree and thats fine with me,  I was never an easy pushover for all the internet online stuff lol.  All those questions don't sit well with me, I give them little or zero info.....Kisha.

When this started back in April, the local little post office told me that if we pay our bills that way it will be less money for the small post offices. I'm sorry, but I have already taken commissions off them by doing BPay online.

But it might be the solution for those who do not have a home address when on the road.

Online banking and Bill Paying is the most convenient way for us. No way in the world would we have time to do it manually, even phone BPay can be a PITA as well, going through the menus to get to what you want to do. Easier to manage scheduled payments and be able to vary them to suit your needs as well.

All this personal information you need to give does not always need to be right, you can make a lot of it up as you go along, yes if it is a delivery address has to be right, but names and email addresses that you are asked for when downloading free software don't need to be anything but made up, it's the same with answer to secret questions, so you are able to get a new password if you forget the old one, an answer to the question what was your first school you can put the answer as NorthPole as long as you remember what the answer is a lot of this information such as your mother's maiden name can now be obtained by any one that does a google search so it is possible to get access to your accounts if hackers do research about your personal details and family history as these details are often in database online.

I purchase from American site's and they do not post to me, they post to a web site called http://www.myus.com/joinnow/?aid=1000721&kwid=100209&gclid=CjgKEAjwzcWcBRCat43fy9e5i3ASJADXOBwub_ZPjP7msDuedoH59lKixBr7TMgwhIrNVu0CV_aOGPD_BwE

This is not the site I use but its one of many, nearly all shops in America free ship to them, they in turn on ship at reduced rates to anywhere in the world.
