is it possible to have one vast box and run two television sets  not at same time. I would like to run a tv outside on a nice day and on a cold night have a tv on in side . I know this is against being on the road but we are on the road permanently and working around oz so this is a bit of relaxation time for us

Trevour, yes it is.

I have an Altech Vast unit and the output on the rear is a HDMI connection. This goes to a HDMI double splitter box and then one connection is wire to the outside of the van and the other to the inside. If I had two TV's they could both be on at the same time.

The splitter needs power (12v) and I believe they do come up to 4 outputs. Dick Smiths or Jaycar will stock them.

I have 2 TV and watch ,normal TV, vast TV, Fox and DVD on both sets. I have 2 splitters so I can watch say fox on one set and all the other items on the second set or any other mix on either, or watch the same on both set as long as we watch the same show. I have also installed an extender IR emitter which allows me to use the remote out side with out having to wave the remote around trying to find the box inside the van. This lets me watch my shows in peace.

G'day Trevor

as others have said it can be done in several ways and the easiest is probably a wireless setup that will send the signal from your vast box to the receiver outside. there are several available from Jaycar and other electronics shops.

disbeliefsmile  To watch different channels on 2 tv sets you require 2 vast boxes, do not know about fox setup.

I use 3 vast units for our setup, 1 in lounge ,1 in bedroom ,1 in trailer for outside use etc.

Sorry Trevor,

No Jaycar, No Tandy in Mildura, But we do have a DS store and they are as helpfull as.......NOT. They don't even sell fuses. Best bet is if your are in a bigger town try there, or mail order. You can down load the latest Jaycar catalogue and have a look there it you are in a town for a few days.

service is usually very good

The signal from my Satplus vast box to the inside TV is via HDMI you can then send the signal to the outside tv via any other output. I use the RCA output but you could use component or another HDMI ( not on mine) depending on your vast box. The wireless mentioned in other replies sounds good but is a more expensive solution and probably requires 240 V whereas the other methods will work on 12V or 240 V. One thing I don't think has been mentioned is that most boxes have the capability of an extension IR so that you can change channels while sitting outside. It may be worth searching for an earlier post of mine where I showed my suction cup outside TV mount.

mick

Sorry Wazza made mention of the IR extender
