Hi Rocket,
I have rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis in my hands/fingers and legs, worse in my leg at the moment, also on one tab of Methotrexate per week and 2 Megafol tabs a week to counteract the Metho tabs side effects.
I recently had a cortisone injection in my knee, was good for about a fortnight, then had to take two prednisolone (solone) cortisone tabs when the pain gets too bad, this lasts for about a week, then repeat again when it happens again (about a week later). This is in addition to the methotrexate/megafol tabs. Also take Pandaol Osteo. See the rheumatoid specialist again on Friday, see what he recommends.

You sound like you have it as bad as me,I am also on two of those megafol as well as two Methotrexate a week, I had about 12 months on prednisolone 25grms down to 1 over twelve months every day, great tablets they were not a pain in the body any where, the only thing with them is they only cover up they don't cure, and they do have side affects.
We'd make a good pair Lance, my specialist started me on prednisolone for a month along with the methotrexate and megafol as he reckoned the methotrexate too that long to work, I think it was one or two tabs prednisolone for a week then half a tab for the rest of the month, then just the meth and meg, 10 mg of meth once a week and two megafol (5mg) twice a week, recently a cortisone injection in the knee and take two prednisolone when pain gets too bad (about every week) and three panadol osteo daily.
Also take tabs for other conditions as well, keeping the chemists happy though.

I have had to stop taking Methotrexate as my monthly liver function tests showed an inceasing problem - to see specialist tomorrow. It was working nicely too.

Geesse Vic you must rattle when you walk, or is it the steel horseshoe plates on your boots.

Cripes Lance, I haven't worn those plates on my boots since I was in the Army! But yeah, don't shake me now as I sound like a Caracas !
I have psoriatic arthritis pretty bad in all my joints plus osteo in my lower spine and had my rotor cuff spur removed (growing back )and can't use methotrexate any more. My specialist now has me on embrel and a couple other things so managing ok but some days (cold ones) I stay in as it gets too bad to cope with.
Stick with your plans for retirement, just battle on through the pain and enjoy life as much as possible ,time waits for no one, best of luck with you treatment rocket.

I agree with Lance, if you're going to be in pain you may as well do something you enjoy, may even take your mind off it for awhile!

Don't let it put you off following your dreams rocket, there are many on the road with this and other afflictions, just manage it (with meds or whatever) and if things get too bad get some medical help along the way wherever you may be.
thankyou everyone. have seen specialist and yes, if I did not rattle before I sure do now. everything is improving except I have no sleep in me at night. I tried to join a group but can't find anything here in Brisbane. kind regards. and improving health to everyone. Rocket
Hello, I would like to refresh this topic please. The thread mentions a lot of medications etc. What I would like to know is how you cope travelling this beautiful country. I have Rheumatoid and my husband is reluctant to travel because of this. I just want to pack up and go, enjoy my last years, no matter how many. I am in pain at home or at work, it makes no difference to me :)
